Classic: trim panel beneath windscreen, what fix?

Hi, my classic has a narrow trim panel at the interior base of the windscreen, which rattles awfully on bumpy roads, which is, of course, most of them, thanks Lying Labour.

Anyway, I used to have it wedged with cut pieces of sponge, but the sponge went brittle and no longer works.

Before I remove it and cut up ANOTHER sponge, does anyone know of a more effective and permanent fix?

TIA

Run a bead of clear silicon along it. Usually works well for trim rattles.

I'm sure it does, but knowing MY luck, the VERY next day I'd need to get it back off.

Any other ideas, folk?

As above silicone. Add a couple of blobs to the dash area but grease up the back of the trim piece. That way the silicone will stick to the dash and take up any 'slack' thats there but won't stick to the trim allowing you to be able to remove it!!

Does that work? Won't it still rattle?

Yeah. The silicone will do the same job as your original piece of sponge did :thumb:

Hi mate did you get the squeaky rattle to stop mines doing it from that thin plastic trim between the screens bottom and main dash cover. When driving if I press it it stops as soon as I let go it starts again. Used double sided trim tape along it but it's a fail. Cheers Steve.

Needs dark coloured and fairly dense foam bits.

Cut a couple of scourers up and thats worked for now. I'll have another look when I have more time. Cheers.
