A little light mod
 

I got these non-HID STI headlights for my bug for the princely sum of £150 which I thought was a bit of a steal (judging by what they go for in the US and A). As I have recently qualified as a Mong 1st Class, I used the services of JonMc to build the looms to mate the lights to my car. What a job he did, they were industry standard! Thanks Jon.
Removing the headlamps was not much of an issue, connecting up was no issue whatsoever, and Jon was on the other end of the phone to allay my fears!
Only casualty was one sidelight is out, but I am well happy with them.

As an aside, can I get pulled by the law for a sidelight being out, it will be noticeable in dipped beam as they stay on?

You can get pulled for the sidelight, but you'd be really unlucky. Probably just the bulb anyway:thumb:

Anyway, looks much better - I'll let you know about the HID fitting next week hopefully:D

Cheers for all your help Jon. Taking the unit out to change the sidelight is a doddle now, I just wonder if it is the same bulb as the normal headlight.

Yes it is, same bulb and bulb-holder:thumb:

I run no sidelights in my morettes. Sidelights look pish in them lol even passed the MOT with them not there lol

Cheers guys, very happy with the job, I would be interested to know how the levelling could be connected up.

I have some stuff in the garage to try and work through it, but it needs a whole new loom making up and either an STI or a Nissan Almera switch. Might make it a winter project:?

How are the lights levelled manually?

There's white hex screws on the back that are used for setting up the beam alignment. The levellers are for when you have loads in the boot/are towing to ensure your beam doesn't shoot skywards:thumb:

I never have more than two bodies in the boot at any one time, I should be ok.

I've never missed the leveller in over 3 years, and have never had an MOT issue without it:thumb:

My next question is, what are the OE bug headlights worth. Mine were replaced when I had front end damage about 4000 miles ago. Now I have the STI lamps, I have no need for them!
