Fantasy wedding in paradise?

Or maybe not!
Disgusting behaviour and not going to have done the country any favours either.

Let's hope it drives down the prices of holidays out there! :thumb:

jods 29 October 2010 12:32 AM

I've cancelled my plans to go there - I'm sure other people will have done the same.

A Proper "Gerald Ratner" moment.

Those responsible will be beheaded by the weekend :cuckoo:

Agreed though, could cripple them

Trout 29 October 2010 08:02 AM

The fact that is has happened it bad.

The fact the resort seems to be trying to shrug it off is dreadful.

The couple looked very uncomfortable as their 'wedding' was surrounded by lots of strange men whispering with each other. I hope they got a refund and more.

Oh-Flock 29 October 2010 08:36 AM

wow thats unbelievable

i actually went to that resort 5 or 6 years ago would never have imagined as all the staff seemed so friendly

just goes to show if you don't understand the language looks can be decieving

urban 29 October 2010 08:57 AM

Muslims eh

Lee247 29 October 2010 09:01 AM

I didn't watch it all. I don't want to get in a real bad mood before work.
Those type of people disgust me!!

Puff The Magic Wagon! 29 October 2010 10:00 AM

This is a different take on the Maldives that might encourage me to go!

It's not much of a revelation, to be fair. The Mrs and I get stiched up for fun in Cairo and Istanbul; stupid cafir! :lol1:

dpb 29 October 2010 11:02 AM

Whys the groom smirking on occasion

cookstar 29 October 2010 12:15 PM

I had to send this link to the Wife, she has booked peoples weddings to these places many times, she says she will avoid it like the plague now.

I thought the same - at one point he clocks one of the blokes smiling and smirks. approx 3.20 in when they're all joining hands.

Smells of set up to me :Suspiciou

Nerves maybe?

Getting married is a bit stressful anyway, nevermind having a set up like that.

As for the behaviour, it's shocking.

I'm sure it happens fairly regularly. I had people working for me in Slough that would say, in a foreign tongue, contemptable things to or about 'kafir' co-workers, the business, indigenous customers and so forth, but would feign
pleasantries when one would could understand. This group didn't realise that there were a couple of whistle blowers among them, pushing for promotion. :lol1:

Mybe .

To my mind you would need to be less than committed to have a service where neither of you spoke the lingo

Well, it was just a renewal of the vows, so maybe it was more of a holiday.

You need to enjoy being mugged off. These lads must have a right good giggle:

that'll be a grand please......أنت غبي غير الخنازير"

:D

Leslie 29 October 2010 01:33 PM

After that I would certainly prefer the local registry office to the Maldives. It will take the country a while to live that down!

Les :(

cookstar 29 October 2010 01:37 PM

Can you imaging if you had been married there recently? I wonder how many wedding videos have been independently translated recently.

David Lock 29 October 2010 01:39 PM

I wonder how and when they found out?

Buggered if I would let it get out on video

Pretty s,hitty trick to play.

But surely that would be the best way to hurt them in return, this will destroy any future business for the resort, well from anyone that sees or hears of this.

I doubt the Maldives government would let that happen as would mean no jobs for their own people which they protect pretty well.

Me and my girlfriend have always talked about getting married abroad and would love the maldives but you can only get a blessing there.

Very strange video though as Ive seen several ceremonies on diff islands and that couple almost looked like they were on trial. I dont think its fair to judge the entire country on the antics of one islands staff.

Yeah - you're probably right. Just that if it were me I'd rather keep it private and forget it. But I would like to see those guys get their come uppance big time.

Perhaps a quiet word and a few dollars in the right quarters ..... :)

Apparently they found out after coming home and uploading it to youTube for friends and family to see. As it did the rounds, someone who knows the language watched it and twigged something was wrong and commented... it went from there

PaulC72 29 October 2010 02:45 PM

It is a little shocking really. these people went in good faith to have a ceramony only to be ridiculed without knowledge.

France, China, USA - all reporting the Presidential apology! :lol1:

Can you imagine the thrashing those young men are getting? I think the couple deserved it......feckin' infidels!

tony de wonderful 30 October 2010 08:23 PM

I don't understand why anyone would want to go there for some cheesy, cheap, tacky wedding 'experience'.

Just seems awful and fake and a step below a 'Vegas wedding'.

But each to their own I guess.

Dingdongler 30 October 2010 10:34 PM

Usual scoobynet response.

Jods says 'he has cancelled his plans to go there':lol1: So you had flights and hotels booked did you? I guess not. Either way only an idiot would change his travel plans to one of hundreds of islands upon the behaviour of a handful of individuals.

Urban can think of nothing better to say than 'Muslims eh'

Get a grip, it's a couple of young boys acting like idiots. If the whole of the UK was judged on the basis of what some idiots get up to here on a Friday night where would we be?

Anyway back to the specifics of the video. What was all that stuff about the penal code?

And with my flame suit on, I must say I found it a little funny, especially the bit about f2cking a chickens a8sre:lol1:

Pretty much how we are perceived right now anyway.
