R33 Skyline GTR....

So....always fancied one of these and now its time to maybe purchase one :luxhello::luxhello:....any good advice for me, good points, bad points etc?

I've spotted a white 95 GTR with Vipec ECU, coilovers, 6 pot brakes and loads of nice goodies, but at 10,500 for a 1995 car im a little weary of what im bbuying, and dont know what i should be looking for, but its only been imported in 2008 and has only 90,000 kms on the clock so it is appealing to me :Suspiciou

Any owners on here?

What you think, good car, worth the money for a good one?

I look forward to your opinions :thumb:

I ownwd a R33 GTR UK car a few years ago now, tbh it was a great car but you better have deep pockets for servicing and general maintenance, most garages will rub their hands together as soon as they hear the words 'GTR'.
Get a good example with FSH and you should be ok, try GTROC for great examples of the R33 GTR. R32 GTR gives you a retro look with same power figures and for 10k you could pick up a real corker.
Good Luck

The 33 GTR is a outstanding performance car, however all the people i have known who owned one have all complained about the costs involved in running them.

Had a r32 gtr for 2 years, you need deeeeeep pockets to run and maintain one properly.

Has been fully looked after and wants for nothing, i have had a hand in upgrading and servicing this car.

scoobyc 01 November 2010 03:29 PM

are they really worth that much? 10k seems like an aweful lot of wedge for such an old car??

rookymatt 01 November 2010 04:00 PM

they really hold their value

beef-on-the-bone 01 November 2010 07:35 PM

a good car will hold it's money!!

would love one but the running costs are a bit scary for me.....

GTR33 V Spec.

scoobyc 03 November 2010 10:48 AM

You can get a e46 m3 for 10k these days?

r34 gts could be a good alternative too :)

rookymatt 03 November 2010 11:06 AM

r34 is much more than 10k.
You won't get a very nice m3 for 10k either.

Moley 03 November 2010 12:34 PM

As above - they are cracking cars, but cost silly money to run.

R34 GTT's (2.5 single turbo) are around £8k

rookymatt 03 November 2010 12:49 PM

Hmmm, problem is that it's the GTT,as you say single turbo, 2.5 (GTR is 2.6), rear wheel drive, the best option for these cars are the GTR's simply as they have four wheel drive, so you'll be less likely to kill yourself! hehehehe

scoobyc 03 November 2010 01:01 PM

or a 350z :)

rookymatt 04 November 2010 08:16 PM

Yeah im probably beeing optomistic trying to get one at £12k lol, but we shall start looking anyway, maybe just go for the non VXR 5.7 model, can be got for around 9-10k:)....although I did spot a VXR going cheap, if it was genuine tho that is :Suspiciou

MMT WRX 08 November 2010 09:44 PM

Well I bought the one I went to see last Saturday, collect it tomorrow night. Its a 97 GT-R with a few mods: Full engine rebuild with forged pistons at RS performance, recon'd turbos, Stainless exhaust and some nice alloys with brand new 265/35/18's on. :luvlove:

Its a fecking animal  :thumb: although, to be honest, I dont know why I bother because I drive like Miss Daisy :D

I'll post some pics over the weekend. :thumb:

Spruxxx 12 November 2010 08:18 PM

Nice! I always wanted an R33 GTR (one of my all time favourite cars), and a few years ago was all set to buy one. Found decent unmolested models but when I saw the service and parts costs from the good garages...

Eg 2k for a replacement headlight?!!? F**k off! The garages know they can force people to pay through the nose in the UK. Guess it's all fine if you're happy paying Ferrari prices...

Razorwrx1 13 November 2010 02:27 AM

Looking forward to the pics mate!
