Can't really tell myself, but the link is not working, here is the proper one, I hope: http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/2134256.htm

peter a 28 October 2010 01:03 PM

yeah thats the one, would there be much of a difference in value on this car if it is a WRX and not a STI as advertised.

JAutos 28 October 2010 01:04 PM

yes sti is worth quite a bit more than its equivelent year wrx

doesnt come up as an Sti on national car database i use for details when im ordering parts but it doesnt show moel at all so still could be one, to be honest its not that important really as this isnt a standard car it heavily modded for track etc with so many different extras and its stripped interior etc, engine specs are important as wrx doesnt have the forged internals that the sti comes with standard but i havnt fully read the ads so apolagies if i missed that on the add

very hard to say really. a car is worth what sumbody is willing to pay, to me i would say very little as its not what i look for in a car but for sumbody who like track cars sky's your limit really. people always try to recoup their spend in reality rarely does that happen mostly you get a bargain as they have had lots of money spent on them.

Billet 28 October 2010 01:57 PM

its a heavily modded wrx as it still has the wrx scoop. dependent on the mods done to it, it is worth around £4900, but that is if a few tasty mods have been done to it.

just read it is cat d, so its worth around £3000 and thats if the repair job was to a very good standard.

MrNoisy 28 October 2010 01:59 PM

Looking at the link the pic shows what appears to be a WRX.
The headlamps are not STI headlamps and neither is the bumper.
The sideskirts appear to be the black plastic WRX ones.
Front brakes have been changed, but if the rears aren't brembo it's another indication that it's a WRX.
With the spec he's listed it's unlikely he'd have been racing 911 GT3's lol.

MrNoisy 28 October 2010 01:59 PM

Oh look a double post - AGAIN:mad:

neil1980 28 October 2010 02:12 PM

911 gt3;s mmmmmm who were driving them my 4 year old lad mmmmmmmmmmmmm

peter a 28 October 2010 02:22 PM

gt3 rs's as well ???

k10dda 28 October 2010 02:26 PM

that car is a wrx

53 28 October 2010 02:35 PM

WRX, if you run it through the DVLA it has WRX C02 :)

As 53 has already said, it's a WRX. The other way to tell is that the sixth character of the VIN number is an A (JF1GDA....). If it was an STi, it'd be a B (i.e. JF1GDB....).

huntmartyn 28 October 2010 03:23 PM

just seen the pic's of the so called sti, it has the standard wrx side skirt's, standard wrx bonnet scoop and wrx bumper id steer clear if the guy says its an sti and its a wrx then he doesnt have a clue what he's on about , its a wrx

53 28 October 2010 03:40 PM

Whatever it is it's overpriced and not very appealing :)

Midlife...... 28 October 2010 03:45 PM

As Splitpin and others say its a bug WRX......there is no MY01 UK STi and the radio mast in the a-pillar is also a dead giveaway for a revision 1 WRX.

KLR16V 28 October 2010 03:53 PM

sti 6 speed , wrx a 5 speed box , looks a dodgy wrx .

Mark

Megaman 28 October 2010 04:41 PM

Looks dodgy - maybe it started life as a WRX but has been crashed that many times its been rebuilt replacing parts with STI parts lol

peter a 28 October 2010 04:49 PM

not worth £3500 then ???

thats what he wants for it

scooby doo 99 28 October 2010 04:51 PM

Personally i would steer well clear.

CHOLTON 28 October 2010 05:12 PM

Just emailed him so we'll see what he has to say.

peter a 28 October 2010 05:35 PM

spoke to him won't move from £3500 at all, so i won't be buying that then.

huntmartyn 28 October 2010 05:36 PM

just read the whole ad again, id deffo wouldnt buy it whoopy do its had just over £4000's work done to it, it still needs ££££'s to be spent a new gear box/recon one, and body work needing repaired as well, steer well clear, THATS ONE SCOOBY THATS BEEN THRASHED, AND GOD KNOWS HOW MUCH MORE WORK IS NEEDED TO BE DONE TO IT!!!

huntmartyn 28 October 2010 05:40 PM

very wise choice, go else where but buy one thats not been in an accident, and has full service history otherwise you may regret parting with your hard earned cash
