The Official Winter Re-build thread

I'll start:D

Just started prepping mine for a respray, new bonnet was needed after a too-close encounter with a deer, and I've decided to add my own unique touches to the front bumper.

Currently making a ducted cover for the driver's side cut-out and will be making a number plate bracket for the passenger side:D

Although I am considering just meshing the lot, what does everyone think:?

darms 27 October 2010 07:34 PM

bl00dy hell, you don't hang about

Love the idea about relocating the number plate as well...... ;) Whose doing ya spraying mate?

JonMc 27 October 2010 07:38 PM

Prodriverules, he's in Leominster and mixes his own paint so I'm thinking DBM with a twist:D

Roof vent next I think, and then prep all of the plastics:thumb:

Myles 27 October 2010 07:40 PM

Roof vent, I have neither the ready cash OR the balls to cut my roof! Id love one though. Subscribed.

Jigsaw and a fine blade, piece of cake - I've built a whole bodykit before so a small hole is nothing:D

martin850 28 October 2010 04:39 PM

:eek2: You have certainly been busy Jon, I love the idea for your bumper. Are you going to make a scoop similar to the Chargespeed ones?

Not quite, should have some pics tomorrow, but I really am tempted just to mesh it and leave it all open:?

martin850 28 October 2010 07:25 PM

It would certainly be the easier route. Might be able to get somebody to Photoshop your pics and add mesh to help you make your mind up :thumb:

JonMc 28 October 2010 07:28 PM

It'll be a 10 minute job to cut and trial fit the mesh, will just need to knock up some mounting points:?

a5h 29 October 2010 01:33 PM

Looking good Jon will be nice to see the finished job.

And stop instigating me to spend more money on the car!!!

JonMc 29 October 2010 01:41 PM

Just ordered a subtle black cold air duct, so will be meshing the to fog lamp holes this afternoon - may finish the fog cover in slow time if I decide I don't like it meshed, but it is started:D

JonMc 31 October 2010 08:30 PM

Update....

Vented fog cover, needs a bit of work but shows the idea, on hold for now because...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSC03722.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSC03721.jpg

Meshed cut-outs on both sides, just need to decide on whether to go for a solid towing eye(race style) and also how to mount the number plate:?

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...6/DSC03725.jpg

Also have a new cold air duct on the way to fit behind the mesh, and I've chopped the inner wing to help it fit better:D

prodriverules 31 October 2010 09:19 PM

JonMc 31 October 2010 09:26 PM

Thought of that, could be scuppered by an arsey copper/MOT tester. I'm considering a square plate on the passenger side:wonder:

prodriverules 01 November 2010 07:50 PM
