Tax rebate
Anyone have any experience on how long it takes to get a tax rebate? I found out 4 months ago that I had been on the wrong code for the past 3 years and that I was due a rebate. Since then I have hears nothing, and every time I ring them they just tell me some tax offices take longer than others to process.:cuckoo:

My son heard last week that he was due a refund for 2008/09 and by Friday had the cheque! Completely out of the blue, so he's a happy bunny now :).
He had had no previous contact with HMRC. |
Can you not get a tax accountant to look at it for you? They can do the calcs. and just let the tax people know how much they should be sending you.

Six months, and if you owe them...yesterday!

Did self assessment online a month or so ago and had the refund in my account within a few weeks!
Online seems to be the way to go with them. Obviously the less work done by the people who actually work there the better (as from previous experience they are useless), and returns submitted online will probs be easier for them to deal with through the computer systems. |
