Maintaining your Dump Valve
 

I have recently bought a Baileys Dump Valve for MY98 uk turbo 2000, and fitted it myself friday, and its working a treat no problems so far.

My reason for starting this thread, is to ask weather there is a way of keeping the dump valve in good working order? like taking it apart by undoing the allen keys on the dump valve and spraying the inside of it with maybe wd40 or a special cleaner or grease to keep it functioning nicely and making it live longer or should i just leave it like it is?

True mate i just wondered if it was worth doing to keep it running ok, i noticed when i installed it friday, it looked like it had been greased abit to make it run smoothly, i can see the grease dissapearing in a couple of months then mayb starting to go wrong :( thats why i was wondering if you can service it urself.

they are a sore subject on here mate alot dont personally use them (i dont like them) but each to their own. dont know about taking them apart just to oil them up.

Im not a fan of bailey dump valves,ive got a Tial BOV on myn which is top brass,there very simple on the internals so if you want to pull apart and put a light coat of oil and clean then it isn't a problem and is a very simple procedure:thumb:

i got a hks 1 that needs sorting as it seems 2 b sticking.not putting it on mine but it would b nice if i could get it working again

Baileys dump valve have a tendancy to have weak springs inside them:freak3: , being as its a twin piston dv you will find 2 springs in the dv iirc,and it is the top one that tends to play up.There is no need to remove the allen key bolts and clean the inside imho unless it starts to stick. I had a baileys dv a while ago and suffered more erratic idling with the baileys than any other dv that i have previously bought.

If yours is working fine now and you have no running issues then fine :thumb: ,but i would (only as a suggestion) buy a 2nd hand recirculating valve and fit it to your car and run the car for a week and see if you notice ant difference in the way the car drives - especially between gear shifts :norty:.

well lane turbos ones are excellent!
