when did this rule come in??!!
How does one go about booking a trailer test? I assume BSM don't do them?! They'll be telling me I need a licence to take a s**t soon. Sorry - quick search of direct.gov revealed the following: Car licences obtained before 1 January 1997 If you passed a car test before 1 January 1997 you keep your existing entitlement to tow trailers until your licence expires. This means you're generally entitled to drive a vehicle and trailer combination up to 8.25 tonnes maximum authorised mass (MAM). You also have entitlement to drive a minibus with a trailer over 750kgs MAM. Car licences obtained on or after 1 January 1997 If you passed a car test on or after 1 January 1997 you're limited to vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes maximum authorised mass towing a trailer up to 750kgs, or a vehicle and trailer combination up to 3.5 tonnes MAM providing the MAM of the trailer doesn't exceed the unladen mass of the towing vehicle. You will need to pass an additional driving test in B+E if you wish to tow a caravan or trailer combination which exceeds these weight limits. So - for a 584kg Seven towed by a GB270 wagon, I have nothing to fear.... So unless your 'few little things' weigh more than your WRX then it looks like you have nothing to fear Mossy26 |
When they say 750kg trailer dont forget thats the weight of trailer and whats on it. Having your C+E guess you knew that.
So that would mean if you passed your car test after 1997 and havent done the test with a trailer you wouldnt be able to tow a trailer with a car on. Someone correct me if I'm wrong:razz:, I think if the trailer and load mass totals over 750kg it has to be a braked trailer. I may be wrong as I never have anything to do with dinky toy sized trailers like this:lol1: |

I think you are right, the rules are a lot more complicated than I thought:wonder: My head hurts! In any case he has C+E on his licence so no problem for him! |
