How to identify GC8 gearbox to select correct clutch?

Hey,

I have a GC8 STi Type-R, its build date is 07/1997. Problem is that it doenst have the DCCD switch active, atleast there are no wires coming to the DCCD switch, so that makes me believe the transmission has been changed at some point.

Now, I'm about to order a new clutch to it as the old one is slipping, how do I know which one of these clutches will fit my car without taking off the transmission and taking a look?

How do those two clutches differ?

I can take pictures of the transmission under the car if that helps.

Any help is appreciated!

One has a slightly larger diameter friction surface. 5mm iirc. Id buy the 230mm, larger one. You should really have flywheel resurfaced flat when changing clutch so will make no odds. Otherwise age of car suggests it should be larger one anyway.

Cheers mate, I'll buy the larger one then and hope for the best that nobody has changed a earlier spec transmission in there. :)

I just talked to a scooby specialist and he told me how to tell the difference on the two transmissions:

The later, bigger transmission has more bolt holes on the bell housing. An extra two on top and atleast one on the bottom half.

Also the earlier transmission has a bolted plate in the back of the transmiossion facing downwards. The later one does not have this one.

A DCCD transmission has three electrical connectors going to it, non-DCCD only has two.

..but a later 230mm clutch will fit the earlier transmission and flywheel, so the safest bet is to order the newer type clutch.
