version 8 steering wheel on classics?

Hi, i am looking to fit a version 8 steering wheel onto a classic version 4 type r. Im not sure if it would fit straight on? I was wondering if anyone has done this and if they have had any problems?

It fits, certainly, as regards the splines etc. I have a WR1 one on my 98 UK car.

BUT: You need the "clockspring" from behind it to get the airbag wiring and the horn wiring. Even WITH that, there may be some alteration of wiring to do. I was lucky, I bought mine done.

The airbag..........It's made for a version 8, it will probablay go off if it needs to in yours, but will it's parameters be the same as your old airbag?

All needs thinking about.

Having said that, I like mine..........
