Depends on how you look at it, if a poilce car came up behind one of us on a dual carriageway and turned on the blue lights, what do you think would have happenned if we had not stopped?

But, yes it is nice to see that not all of them are above the law, even if it means we all end up paying for her next years insurance.

OK, gonna stick my neck out here! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Five points for 93 in a 70??? OK, she didn't stop, but as she often drives in police escort, it seems a bit unfair to me. Since when does "a brief flash of blue lights" indicate "pull over"? If they wanted her to stop, they should have left them on.

Silly me, I forgot, she's not part of the People's Republic of New Labour. Jack Straw would have got away with it....

A shame that the fine wasn't means adjusted. That could have been quite amusing.

Shame her bodyguard wasn't driving.

They would have got away with driving to a non work related function at 103mph.

Shes good enough to take it on the chin, so good on her. I saw on the news tonight that she has previous speeding however all spent.

Regardless its a positive on the publicity points for the Royals from me.... http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif and that doesn't happen much.

Heard on the news this morning that Jerry Halliwell is facing a ban for 60 in a 30 in Watford in her Aston Martin!

in 96 I got 3points for the same thing...
clamping down or what... mind you I was on a dual carriage way.

Fair to say Anne is the most normal of all the Royals.... and as for Zara!!!

Robertio 14 March 2001 08:55 AM

I dont know if it was the same report I saw, but they spoke to some anti-car guy who said they she should be setting a better example not speeding and driving dangerously. Now did I miss something, I do not believe that she was done for dangerous driving. It is hardly as if doing 93 in a Bentley is pushing it to its limits, admittedly I do not know what the road conditions, etc were like at the time, but somehow I suspect he did not either.
The reporter then went on about how she should have known better after one of her kids was injured in a car accident recently. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/rolleyes.gif

dsmith 14 March 2001 09:09 AM

Saw the same report.

If I were her I'd sue the bloke for slander. She wasn't done for Dangerous driving therfore she was not driving dangerously.

Perhaps she should have claimed that the press were following her. She could of got off scott free then .....The new report did make one sideays comment that if she had been under escort as she thought, there would have been no problem. How does Jack Straw sleep at night ....

Now back to Zara ! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Wish we could return to the good old days http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif
Princess Anne was given a written police warning in November 1972. In 1977 she was fined £40. 1990 fined £150.2001 £400 and 5 points.
2005 £5000 fine and 2 years in prison?
We've got the safest roads in the world bar iceland where only half a dozen people own cars any way http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif
Why do we put up with this further example of stealth taxation? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif
