Which clutch to go for, v6 type r to cope with 400bhp which I intend to mod up to, and how much?

Cheers

What engine and what gearbox?
Clutches are rated in lbs, so if you go 2.5ltr for instance your torque will be more, but look at AP organic (avoid paddle clutches, they are horrid), but a good clutch will not be cheap (700+)

Tony:)

Twin plate would be the cheapest option in the long run....;)

I have an exedy twin plate and it takes all the abuse i can throw at it......

The single plate organic unit i had before lasted months....

An ACT high torque one will do just fine, I have one in my STi and running 460lb ft!! No juddering when pulling off and if I'm honest, feels better than the OEM one :thumb:

gmanwrx 14 October 2010 09:05 PM

Who supplies the ACT clutch and how much am I looking at for one?

Cheers

I'm running 440bhp and 410lbft on an API uprated organic clutch on a 2.1. The clutch itself is only around £300 but rated to 380lbft so I know I'm pushing my luck! I'll be going exedy twin plate next but that's to future proof it.

I think aztec performance may supply the ACT Clutches. Bought a few bits from them in the past and their always very knowledgeable and helpful...

Had an AP organic single plate in my p1 for some years now - 450bhp 380ftlb. No issues.

The APi uprated one & flywheel will do well for gmanwrx. Thanks for the recommendations guys.

Thanks David, we don't supply ACT at the moment, although have done in the past.

Exedy Racing Organic - Anti Judder works really well and we've got customers running 400bhp on these.
