STI or WRX wheels

Hi,

What I want to know is:-

Is £270 for a set of gold STI wheels with 2 bridgestones and 2 budgets a good deal?, the wheels have no curbing and in the pics look in good condition.

Also, how much will I be able to get for my newage WRX wheels with 2 good bridgestone tyres and 2 other Bridgestone tyres that have tread on 75% of the tyre?, the tyre place told me that they were legal, the wheels are in good condition.

Really would appreciate your comments as I have been thinking about this for a few days and dont want to lose too much money in the deal.

Many Thanks

Sparky

I think its a lot, seen them sell for much less. you will probably get £120 ish for yours.

sparkysx 13 October 2010 07:14 PM

Yeah I do agree with you, but I wouldnt have to pay postage as they are only 30 miles away. They do look mint, I am a little fraught about the decision and knowing how i am about buyers remorse I didnt want to make a mistake, but my 2 rear tyres will need changing in a few months and the STI wheels have a fair bit more tread on them.

Anyone esle have input on this, are the STI wheels nicer in your opinions?

The dimples on the STi rims are a pain to keep clean, I prefer the look of the WRX wheels with the parallel spokes :D ............all IMHO.

Yeah I did think the dimples might be a pain, but prefred the overall look of the STI wheel. As mine is a WRC Blue car, thought the gold STI wheels would set it off nicely. Didnt want to paint mine gold as then it will just look like a UK 300.

Make sure the STI wheels have the correct pcd for your hubs.

sparkysx 13 October 2010 09:50 PM

didnt know there were different pcd's with the STI wheels, would STI wheels from an 04, go on a 04 WRX?

daz1968 13 October 2010 10:01 PM

yes the dimpled sti wheels will fit. I did the same on my wrx. They fill the arches better and are wider. They defo look better. If you take into account getting a couple of tyres and getting yours done gold then it will work out cheaper just to buy them. You wont regret it. Also have room to fit front brembos which was the best mod i did to my wrx.

Midlife...... 13 October 2010 11:05 PM

Ha !!.....someone mentioned Brembo's... The STi wheels do command a bit of a premium as they do fit with the front Brembo's without spacers :)

TBH £270 for a set of STi wheels in good condition is a good price if they don't need a refurb.........as long as you can cope with cleaning the dimples (see my post above) LOL

Unless you're looking to fit bigger brakes, why not just get yours refurbed? :wonder:

I got mine powdercoated in black, fantastic job and only £200. :)

Blimey £270 with miss match tyres makes mine well priced with re040 all round ;)

sparkysx 14 October 2010 04:11 PM

Why, are you selling yours?

sparkysx 14 October 2010 04:16 PM

My wheels dont need a refurb, spotless...

Yes. There's a thread with pics in the sale section. Only phone pics but can send some better ones. https://www.scoobynet.com/private-fo...coilovers.html

I'm over in Essex so not too far to collect or meet you half way. I bought them earlier in the year but have gone back to the standard 16" on my classic. I have them up for a little more than I paid for them but only looking to get my money back.

sparkysx 14 October 2010 04:34 PM

Well if you would take £280 for them i'd collect them tomorrow, cant offer anymore as the missus has given me a budget and i'm over that at £280.

sparkysx 14 October 2010 04:46 PM

Also, are they on thier original paint?

sparkysx 14 October 2010 06:24 PM

sparkysx 14 October 2010 06:58 PM

Cant collect tomorrow now, as i'm working now. So early next week if you still have them by then.

gpssti4 14 October 2010 07:03 PM

lol - I had a set on ebay and a buyer called Sparky, located in Herts wanted them and offer me £210 if I delivered them. I assumed it was you - if not, sorry for the confussion. And, yes I have a set for sale too. Mine are STI wheels in anthracite, I have a thread in the for sale section too if you want to look. :)

sparkysx 14 October 2010 07:10 PM
