advice needed on induction kits please

Was just wondering the induction kits for classic come with pipes, elbows etc.. do these fasten onto the existing intake pipe (standered) or is it best to remove this pipe and fasten straight onto turbo advice needed please.

Whoa, one step at a time. Asking questions like this suggests you don't really know enough to be considering buying a cone filter right now - so I guess in one way it's just as well you posted.

It's impossible for us to advise you on the basis of the amount of information (not) provided. Depending on what model, model year and power goal you are looking at, the best solution to this question may well be not to fit an induction kit at all.

Secondly, in practical terms it is usually impossible to "fasten straight onto the turbo". Aside from the fact that there will still be a need to plumb breathers and dumpvalve return in, if you are still running a Subaru (or Apexi) ECU, you can't just chuck the MAF sensor (and measurement tube) away.

If you are running OE or PowerFC, you also need to deal with the consequences of changing to the airflow vs voltage scaling after changing the induction.

As a general point, if you have a phase 1.5/phase 2 car, are still MAF-based and are running (or plan to run) less than 350bhp or so, chances are you'll be better off sticking with the standard airbox and resonator. As above though if you can tell us what you're trying to do here it'll be easier to provide pertinent advice.

Good advice. Induction kits are OK if they are needed and worked into the build, but can lead to disaster:(

sorry forgot your not in my world... duncan from race dynamics is coming on the 30th to fit a new simtec ecu and remap fot me in myoo with a ej25 fitted.
I will be running maf less so no problem regarding induction kit was just wondering to replace the standered intake pipe with a samco and appropriate pipe work to cone filter or mushroom what ever is best before remap.

.........Since Duncan is at the sharp end (he has to map it) why not ask him about the induction side of things :)
