Boost gauge needle vibrating

Impossible for us to tell from here, especially given the information (not) provided whether this is a normal characteristic of the gauge, or whether this is an indication that you're suffering boost oscillation.

As per the sticky at the top of the forum, might help if you told us what you're driving, what make the gauge is, and so-forth.

does it sound like a hacked off rattle snake? Mine did this because I thought the restrictor pill in the pipe connection for the boost gauge was a plug so removed it. Once refitted the needle was rock steady.

As above - should have a restrictor/damper in the pipework to steady the needle down.

mine vibrates a little when I am tickling the throttle at low to mid boost. when i keep the throttle steady or just fully open the taps it's rock solid.

it did vibrate more pre remap, fluttered at full boost as well but that's normal for cars that haven't been remapped but have aftermarket intakes.

any gauge that vibrates should have a restrictor in the pipework to ensure smooth operation imho

Plastic/nylon restrictor on mine with a 1mm drilling through it - its fitted approx. 150mm from the gauge end of the pipework.

Some mechanical gauges do this, it's normal.

Mine was in the brass connector on the gauge.
