2010 STI badge advice
 

As i draw close to buying a 2010 STI 330R, i wanted to ask a few questions about the badges on a scooby.

1. Are they easy to remove or are they pysically pinned to the body work ?

2 If i wanted to have a little 330R badge made any advice on who where i would get one, any online companies etc ?

3. what would you have it made from just a plain sticker ? or some fancy embossed plastic affair ?

My plan is to remove all badges bar the STI 1 and accompany that with a little 330R sticker.

Almost all car badges these days are fastened with glue, which is on thin double-sided tape. I find removal is easiest using either fishing line, or dental floss, to "cut" behind the badge, and WD40 to remove any residue. It can help to warm the badge/area with a hairdryer first.

As for a 330 badge, waht do you want? Any decent signwriter will make you a vinyl one for a few quid, to your spec in a colour to suit. Our local guy made me a replacement for the 2000 AWD one on my classic and it's better than the original.

I presume making one like the 330s plastic risen thing would be harder

hairdryer on the rear badges for a few seconds and they will peal off and leave little residue on the car, very simple.

Side STI badges can be removed in the same way but you would not want too as they sit in a recess so need to be there, one guy in the states has removed, filled and smoothed and repainted with pretty good results.

No problem, and they are doing their best.

Hmmh... with roughly 1 in 10 Sti's sold suffering from engine failure 'already', you must be either very brave, very lucky or very ******.


No offence meant but... I wouldn't buy one if I was in the market for a new car... and I have one.

Its certainly a big risk you're taking... why not go JDM if you must have a new hatch ?

How much does the 330r cost? Surely you would rather go JDM for the peace of mind of a robust engine?

My badges just pealed off gently after an afternoon in direct sunlight. Then an alcohol wipe and job done.

It's crossed my mind and I've also spoken to technical at The IM group and the lie of the land of all the failures.

I'm happy with what I've been told plus im also stuck a bit has I cantnget a good offer for mine other than my old friends at garage x

Unfortunately 08, 09 and 10's have suffered. Thats standard cars, 330S models, and PPP kit cars. Some cars have blown twice - even on new short blocks.

Main problem is that the engines are still the same as before...

Could really be the death of Subaru.

Thing is that most of the cars be it 08/09/10 (hatchback) are the same cars imported in 08 and registered when sold.

IIRC IM have not brought any cars in from Japan since 08 and all are held in stock because they had trouble shifting them and the cost of the strong YEN made it unfeasable ti import more.

2010 STI 330R :lol1: one born every minute ! a 2010 offer possibly, but unlikely a MY2010 car !

330R is just a load of bolt on tat to sell more cars to more people that buy into 'R' means better, oooh racey :lol1: No offence but it's not a 330R it's a 330 that some marketing people decided would be easier to shift with an R on the end via some limited time promotional package. Not an official model worthy of a badge as essentially all it means is they gave away more free stuff in order to shift more failing cars IMHO.:)

If you want a NEW Subaru go JDM, it's where the smart money goes !:thumb:

No it's not 53WRX

It's a standard UK STI with ppp on it, not a re-badged 330s... The 330s has more kit (recaro's sat nav etc)

Keyless too

I accept you post, but it's still a fantastic "base car" for future mods.. All the prodrive suspension upgrades are already there. The chassis is far superior to all previous Impreza's.. The block is strong, the prodrive exhaust just needs one pipe changing and it's fully de-catted...

A quick trip to Alan and a few thousand pounds later you'll have quite a beast with 500bhp and handling to match...
If I was keeping mine for more than another year I'd do it.

So don't knock it totally ;)

What happened to this 380s then? Did a Subaru engineer have to tell the board of directors "she canny tek it cap'n?" :wonder:

I completely agree:thumb: but in the context of normal people buying a 330R you're rather carbon wrapping the goal posts and then moving them ;)
