ET - Max and Min for 4 pots

Simple question, what are the maximum and minimum ET (Offset) for 4 pots on a Classic?

Without spacers.

The Trooper 1815 11 October 2010 09:31 PM

Anyone?

R1CH D 12 October 2010 09:10 AM

I just put ET20 on mine:norty:, They are 10x18s though so needed to. All will be revealed at the next meet:D

Not so simple a question then Ian !:wonder:

What about trying a wheel specialist to see if they know ? I think theres a guy on SN by the name of M444Y from ruislip who sells lots of wheels and tires.Try him maybe

The offset and width (the offset u can use will change with wider wheels) of the wheel is more to do with weather they clear the inner arch and the suspension strut....
If they will clear 4-pots is more to do with the design of the wheels, the first set of wheels i bought for my classic (5 spokes) were the correct offset for the car but didn't clear the 4-pots due to the spoke design so had to use a 3mm spacer :(
If u run Brembo's then u have an even more limited wheel choice to clear the calipers...

I want to keep the handling and looks. Don't do bling, body kits or slamming, sorry.

Just deciding which set to get refurbed first considering the Godspeed Big Brake kit.

Cheers Dean. Sorry I missed a chops on Saturday.

For standard width 7.5 the ET is 45 - 50.:thumb:

ET 50 will clear pretty much every caliper including Porsche GT3 calipers with room to spare.

If u mean the 335mm brake kit that uses the standard 4pots, I think that kit runs a wider disc and caliper has spacers to suit the disc making the caliper wider so u will have less clearance than with the standard setup...
For the money I'd go for brembo's personally, haven't look for a while but the Godspeed kit wasn't cheap... :thumb:

Dean, I see what your getting at. Back to the drawing board then.

Whats the ET on the standard Newage WRX wheels?

You need at least ET 48 to cover brembos with room to spare. Standard newage WRX wheels off set is ET 45.:)

Ta John.

May stay normal and get the Newage alloys up to Castle Coatings then for something different.

I had my Advans powder coated at Castle Coatings and the finish is good but the paint chips easily. From what I have read alloy metals after shot blasting require baking up to 280 degrees prior to powder coating, to stop the metal breathing causing a brittle paint finish. I'd check to see if they bake the alloys prior to powder coating as mine aren't quite right.:thumb:

If you fit the 335mm kit , the calipers will be around the same distance from the spokes as standard , yes we do fit a caliper spacer to make them wider , but the discs have more offset to compensate , if you have wheels that clear the standard discs and 4 pots , then they will clear my 335mm kit , obviously you need at least 17" wheels to clear them.

The 335mm kit will work better than the STi brembo's , and as you have just had your calipers reconditioned Ian , they will work perfect with it.

I can supply you our 335mm kit for £550 , you can now have the new bluestuff pads with them as I had a batch made up

Going onto the original question , its the spoke design that will give more problems than the ET , if you buy a wheel with spokes that go in slightly the further from the hub the spokes get , then they could cause clearance problems , standard RB5 , P1 , 2001 onwards WRX wheels all clear my 335mm kit , we haven't seen many wheels that don't fit over them

Cheers Ian

There have been no problems with my Superleggera's after Castle Coatings did their bit.
