Commonwealth Games

I like sport and get involved in watching Olympics - summer and winter - World Cup etc.

But for some reason I can't garnish get any enthusiasm whatsoever for the current Commonwealth stuff.

Anyone else feel the same?

Perhaps it's World Cup depression :D

I've been quite happily watching the hockey and keeping tabs on our archers. Although I love archery and spend alot of my time doing it, its about as interesting as watching paint dry!

Have you seen the medal table recently?

England
Gold 26; Silver 46; Bronze 33 (= 105 medals)

Scotland
Gold 4; Silver 6; Bronze 6 (= 16 medals)

Wales
Gold 1; Silver 5; Bronze 6 (= 12 medals)

Northern Ireland
Gold 0; Silver 1; Bronze 1 (= 2 medals)

Isle of Man
Gold 0; Silver 0; Bronze 2 (= 2 medals)

Let's hope the Provinces pull their fingers out of their arses a bit more come the Olympics in 2012, or else they'll only be a handful of non-English athletes in the GB team!

There were a whole load of athletes who haven't gone to Delhi for various reasons: injured, wussed out over security/sanitation fears, clash with other events.

Off the top of my head, there's No Phillips Idowu, Jessica Ennis, Christine Ohuruogu, Chris Hoy or Bradley Wiggins.

I'm surprised there was no gold for Mark Cavendish in the men's road race.

Nor can the Indians seemingly. Seen the mostly empty stadiums?

I am glad it went ahead in the end, it would have been very bad for the event as a whole if it had failed and I would not want to see it lost.

There have been good performances and successes for our athletes and it is a pity it has been poorly supported. Maybe people can't afford the tickets. Not that much spare cash over there I think.

Just like back at the Olympics, once it was up and running I really got into it.
Sad its all over, now it will be back to the over paid Nando eating brigade to flood our TV's.
