why do people say dont fit induction kits....

Induction kits upset the MAF sensor. This is caused by the air being turbulent, the OE induction tract smoothes out the airflow prior to the filter. So if you are sticking to the TMIC and keeping the OE ECU then go for a panel filter. If you are going to fit a FMIC then one option is to move the MAF sensor to after the intercooler so it beciomes a blow through MAF, not sure if there are boost restrictions though.

I too am going for an induction kit, as going maf less with simtec and remap from duncan at race dynamics,think this will definatley make the car breath better as im sure duncan will agree but on the other hand i had a k+n kit fitted to my98 typer v4 this was running a maf and had no issues with it at all.

returned to the OE air box after 2 MAFs died-JDM V5 STi, got the green stripe on it so its (as far as i know) the newest MAF
