Exhaust Advice Required Please.
I have decided to get an Afterburner Vortex 2.5" non-resonated cat back system on my 2005 STi PPP. I believe my car has a Prodrive Sports Cat in the downpipe and the standard second cat.
Will the car need to be remapped in anyway for the Afterburner system? I don't intend to lose the cats. Anything I should be aware of with this system? cheers! |
you wont have the 2nd cat on a PPP. you will, like you say, have the prodrive sports cat, and it will be fine.
i have the 3 inch version (with 2.5 flange to downpipe so fits original downpipe) - afterburner R, and i love it. i got a prodrive downpipe like yours fitted to my uk sti and with a remap made 330 bhp and simliar torque, imho a custom map suited to your car will be a better map than the ppp,so if you want the extra power get it remapped :) lots of mappers to chose from, but my choice would be Richard Bulmer who mapped mine. he runs tractive solutions in melton mowbray hope that helps |
thanks for that...looking under the car it doesnt appear to have a plain pipe where i would expect the second cat...its a wide flat piece. i dont actually need to get it mapped though do i just for the centre section and backbox? cheers.

the prodrive second cat delete retains the original heat shielding from the cat so from a casual look is exactly the same as the cat, I don't know why they did this though. I can't see a problem with just changing the exhaust, although a remap should improve performance and economy over the ppp map.

cheers. that answers that then...so it's the heat shield i can see...how daft! i might look at a remap in the future but happy with the prodrive performance tbh. always be good to get a bit more mpg though! thanks
oh...have placed my order for the afterburner...should get it fitted on the 18th! cant wait. |
the heatshield stumps alot of people lol
