smoke

Fine when im driving i turn car off leave for a bit go back start it and i get white smoke from exhaust. Driver side rocker is leaking can the smoke be caused by this?

do a compression test on the valves to see if any are low. hopefully not a cracked head or anything as serious. does the engine temp run high or does cold air come through the vents when you turn the heat up?

vc_1985 08 October 2010 10:47 AM

Temps are fine hot and cold air work as they should

vc_1985 08 October 2010 11:49 AM

Could this be the turbo?

scooby72 08 October 2010 12:58 PM

Are you getting any noise from the turbo??

vc_1985 08 October 2010 02:46 PM

Yeah still hits boost but seems slower theres oil in intake pipe and intercooler pipes

scooby72 08 October 2010 03:50 PM

You'll get a bit of oil in the cooler especeially if the oil level was a bit high as the breather goes into the resonator.
If the car is feeling a bit lacking it could be the turbine wheel on the turbo getting worn?? (im quoting what Ive just been told about mine)
Check your lambda sensor too.
You didnt say whether you turbo is noisey.....

vc_1985 08 October 2010 05:23 PM

How do u mean noisy? still spools up can really tell with the exhaust lol. So its looking like the turbo what turbo is in a 98 sti? Do u have to put the same back in?

vc_1985 08 October 2010 07:04 PM

Nowhere near you bud - If the Turbo is making too much whistle or your getting any kind of oscillating sound is what I mean chap.
Only about £200 posted there and back to get it reworked so could be worth it to get the pzing back to the car.

vc_1985 09 October 2010 09:48 AM

3 day turn around and did a proper job for me and my mates blowers.

Did you check the lambda sensor yet???

vc_1985 09 October 2010 11:44 AM

No but ill check it now what am i looking for?

scooby72 09 October 2010 01:38 PM

Just check that its intact on the sensor part itself and then check the voltage across it at the pins. There are a few threads on hear about what the volage / resistance etc should be.
