Career change guidance

I am 40 now and really want move into something new having been self-employed for the past ten years. Has anyone been somewhere for good career advice?

Whilst I'm sure there are places you can go the Internet is a very powerful tool. Get an idea of what you want to do a research it thoroughly. Try and get some first hand experience and/or thoughts of others who've been in that trade as well, for example if you wanted to be a chef ask if you can go a do a few evening shifts and get a feel for it.

Firstly you have to decide what kind of job interests you, job satisfaction is very important I think, and whether you are capable of doing it.

Yes I was hoping Scoobynet would provide the answer as usual in a couple of posts.:notworthy I'm not sure what I would like to do, but I miss the social side of working as part of a team and the idea of a regular salary paid every month would be a dream come true. Suppose I need to distill my "talents".

I worked in I.T since 1998 (5 years of which self employed)... work became a bit scarce.. jacked it in.. sent off loads of online "cvs" etc.... ended up working on a building site for another s/net member to keep me going (kindly) and now work in a signs and graphics company, thanks to another s/net member!!! (since feb) - best job i've ever had to be honest !! :)

The old "find something you enjoy doing" is a pipe dream, find something that pays well and you can put up with - that's my advice.
