CHILDREN IN NEED CONVOY FRIDAY 19 NOVEMBER 2010
CHILDREN IN NEED CONVOY TO NORWICH FRIDAY NOVEMBER 19TH (Early Evening) http://www.bbc.co.uk/pudsey/images/bannernew.gif For the eighth year running, the ESC will be helping Scoobycity in supporting the BBC's Children In Need appeal, with their now-famous, and magazine featured Charity Convoy through Norwich City Centre. If you've never been on this before, you've missed out on one of the most satisfying, enjoyable and worthwhile events of the year.........where else would you get a convoy of dozens of Scoobs, creating havoc by taking over the city centre roads, making a complete spectacle of themselves, whilst raising money and doing it all with the support of the Norfolk Constabulary? Last year, we raised several thousand pounds, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves into the bargain. A £5 per car donation can be made on the night please & would be greatfully received. Sponsor forms & other cool stuff are available from the BBC Children In Need website Once again, this year we will have the full support of the Norfolk Constabulary (thanks to Dirty Harry .44), to lead the convoy, and to block off the junctions, roundabouts etc so we can enjoy uninterrupted progress through the city. Optional fancy dress if you dare!!! After the convoy there will be a gathering for a drink & some food at The Village Inn, Little Melton, just out of Norwich before heading back. CONVOY DETAILS Meeting @ Boreham Interchange ( Chelmsford ) A12/A130 BP Garage Forecourt @ 4:45pm leaving there on the dot @ 5pm Meeting @ Macro's Norwich from 6:30 onwards leaving @ 7.00pm Please get your names down & put this in your diary now 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. Still you will have plenty of company once you get there. There are well on the way to 50 cars attending with more to come. Even a few from the Dark Side over the water are making the effort. Important instructions for CIN Night - PLEASE READ
Pretty much the same as previous years. :thumb:
1. Please aim to arrive at Makro from 6.30pm onwards, and park at the bottom of the car park, away from the store entrance. Hand your entrance money and any other funds you've raised, to one of the team members brandishing a bucket! 2. When we start forming the convoy at approximately 7pm, please be ready and waiting in your cars, but DO NOT move out of your parking space until directed to do so by a uniformed officer. Drive around the bottom of the car park in a loop and join the convoy where directed - this will avoid any bottlenecks along the front of the store. 3. Have your lights on, but NO foglights or hazard lights. 4. Keep the gap to the car in front to a minimum to ensure the convoy stays together without interruption from members of the public, but leave enough space to brake safely - speeds will be low, but we don't want any shunts! 5. Uniformed officers will be closing off junctions, roundabouts etc to enable us to pass through uninterrupted - this INCLUDES going through red lights when directed to do so. Only stop to avoid causing an accident, or if directed to do so by a uniformed officer. 6. When we halt for the regroups on Lower Clarence Road and Castle Hill, DO NOT leave your vehicles. 7. When we reach Gentlemans Walk, please park to the side of the road where directed by a uniformed officer in a herringbone (that is angled) pattern. 8. Anyone wishing to eat at our final destination, The Village Inn, Little Melton (where we have our monthly meets), will need to be at the pub NO LATER than 9pm. We will no longer be escorted by the Police when we leave Gentlemans Walk, so remember to STOP at red lights, junctions etc - we will have to obey the laws of the road once again! You are free to leave Gentlemans Walk at your leisure, but leave enough time to get to the pub for your hard-earned dinner! The pub have set aside their function room for our exclusive use. 9. Lastly...........have fun, enjoy the night, and remember to raise as much money as you can! |
