New windows grant

We had a leaflet put through the door last week, advertising UPVC windows that could be supplemented by a grant.

We have wooden double glazing at the moment, and a couple of them need replacing, and most need painting/staining again, so thought I'd get this company to come around - http://www.olympianhome.co.uk/

They're coming next week, but after speaking to them, my wife told me it's based on them claiming around 60% of the cost back from a government grant setup to modernise people's windows, with us paying the remainder.

Has anyone heard of this before? Is it only certain companies that can offer this scheme? Or could any windows company do it - i.e. should I be looking at more than one quote.

Thanks for any info.

Seems well worth investigating anyway.

No harm in getting a quote; And you should always get at least several quotes.

Just if they start doing the "show home" trick and phoning the office to get a "substantial" discount off the huge quote you've been given that is only available to you there and then....kick the salesman out ASAP making sure they know you've seen the same sales tatics on watchdog/rougue traders and you will not succumb to bullying sales ploys (and don't let them use your toilet).

Hmmmm, double the price, then reduce it by 60% for the "grant", you pay the rest. :lol1:

Cheers mate, amazing what you can find on the internet.
