My03 Gauges

Hi All,

Looking to get oil temp, oil pressure and boost gauges installed into my 03sti.

Which brand would you recommend and why?

Cheers,

J

Have Auto Gauges in Mine, and work well yet can hear the mechanical sounds from the dials without the stereo on :)

alot. lol. i fitted them myself for starters, as its an easy job. and i did not use a sandwich !!!!!! the kakumei 60mm carbon pod, is (to my knowledge), no longer avaliable. although im sure if you dig dig dig, you might find one second hand.

ill get the receipts out and cost it all up.

Send a PM to Nito, on here, he might have stock, including pods.

Someone on p1woc recomended r-spec gauges they looked great so went for a set of those myself 3 gauges and pod cost around £220 to 250 all in they come with everything apart from the sandwhich plate. The guy who fitted them couldnt beleive how good they were for the price. have a look on youtube at them. Not as good as the defis but if your not worried about recording info from them then they are a great buy.

Sandwich plate? Why use a sandwich plate when Subaru provide a properly placed threaded fitting?

wrx9181 03 October 2010 01:09 PM

Where is it alcazar?
Piccy if poss

alcazar 03 October 2010 02:07 PM

It's covered by a plug, also threaded, with an 8mm Allen Socket on top. The plug is about 25mm across, and located on top of cylinder No3, which is rear-most cylinder, driver's side. You can see it if you look down in front of the intercooler to one side of the turbo inlet pipe.
It needs a LONG 8mm Allen key to get it out, and an adaptor, available from loads of places, to fit your sender. Use PTFE tape to seal both adaptor and sender.;)

No3 cylinder runs hottest, apparently, so it's the place Subaru choose for the oil temp.

Oil PRESSURE sender should be placed in the threaded hole for the OE oil pressure switch, which most people do without. It is situated on the front face top of the block, just under the alternator belt.

It's about 6-8" from the rear of the engine. Estimate the width of the cylinders, and look in the central area on top of No3.
I can show you if you want to come over one day?

wrx9181 03 October 2010 03:50 PM
