Favorite video games.

What are your favorite games?

Not that I really am into video games much these days, I'm too old and have better thing to do but....

Just a list in no particular order.

Legend of Zelda Ocarina of time (just a great adventure basically, so well put together).

GTA Vice City (awesome cool 80's vibe, the best GTA game).

Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butchers Bay (great atmosphere and dark vibe).

ICO (unique and awesome).

Metroid Prime (very unique and great atmosphere when it first came out).

Super Metroid (played this for ages on the SNES, great atmosphere again).

COD (the first two games were a breath of fresh air and had epic WW2 confrontations. "Into the fascist lair!").

Resident Evil 4 (just great).

Prince of Persai (the 3D re-imagining was especially fresh when it came out).

Final Fantasy 7. Loved this game in the 90's and played it for hours on end.

The first 2 or 3 Tomb Raider games - there was the obvious attraction but the depth and plot of these games at the time was excellent.

Lego Star Wars - It's great fun playing 2 player with my 7 year old :D

Some great games listed here - and have spent (wasted :) ) many hours on most of them! I'd add:

Elite - wish someone would do a modern multi-player version of it!

Sensible Soccer

Settlers

Total Annihilation

Red Dead Redemption

Best 'modern' game is Halo on the XBox but retro I would have to say the arcade version of Streetfighter:thumb:

SiPie 29 September 2010 08:53 AM

Red dead redemption

banny sti 29 September 2010 08:59 AM

Most of the above also tekken 2, abes odyssey, golden eye, mario kart64, black and half life series

belliott69 29 September 2010 09:37 AM

the original sonics are still my favourite games, nothing can top them in my eyes. but i do wish that they would remake max payne for the ps3 that was one hell of a game .

Neanderthal 29 September 2010 10:03 AM

They are making a new Max Payne game :thumb:

Ant 29 September 2010 10:13 AM

The first resident evil the intro was quite scary .

Original Super Mario Bros.
Super mario world
Sonic
Alex the kid
Metal gear solid 1 ( what a game)
Streets of rage
Tomb raider
FF VII ( spent hours ,possibly days in it)
Road Rash
Destruction Derby

It's a shame games don't last as long now.

banny sti 29 September 2010 10:31 AM

ChefDude 29 September 2010 10:47 AM

There's two schools of thought:
1 - Yes.
2 - No as David Braben didn't write it.

It will be interesting if Braben ever gets around to writing the game rather than writing about it.

Never really got into that stuff. I find Jap RPG stuff a little soulless, which is why I liked Zelda stuff.

I'm playing Mass Effect 2 ATM which is an RPG of sorts.

banny sti 29 September 2010 11:17 AM

Zelda ocarina of time is a top game, still got a copy laying about somewhere and agree the experience was more enjoyable than ff7.

grovesy 29 September 2010 11:56 AM

Mario Kart on the SNES

Wish I still had this .

stilover 29 September 2010 12:49 PM

Halo

Tidgy 29 September 2010 12:52 PM

only game i;pve played and stuck with is eveonline, do like running around shooting people though lol

corradoboy 29 September 2010 01:10 PM

Not played much in recent years, but back in the days of the PS1 I enjoyed Metal Gear Solid enormously. Silent Hill was brilliant too, along with maybe Dino Crisis.

When I update my Mac I will definitely be getting the COD games.

Colin McRae Rally 5, TOCA3, Grid, and I am just about to get into F1 2010. Once I can find out how to set it up which is not very well explained, but it is looking pretty promising.

I was slightly addicted to video games from about 8 years old onwards starting with a Binatone thing that you played pong and motorcycle games on.

So probably in order:

Space Invaders (VCS)
Combat (VCS)
Star Raiders (Atari 800)
Shamus (Atari 800)
Miner 2049r (Atari 800)
International Karate (Atari -- slightly cheating as contract programmed this version)
Monty on the Run (C64)
Way of the Exploding Fist (C64)
GoldenEye (N64)
Mario Kart (N64)

<Long gap -- girls happened :) >

Ridge Racer (PS)
Virtua Fighter (Saturn)
Doom (PC)
Duke Nukem 3D (PC)
Unreal Tournamount
Quake (PC)
Postal 2 (PC)

And I've forgotten the rest.

Just remembered how great Rob Hubbard was at writing music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uKssG...eature=related (theme from Monty on the Run)

Glowplug 29 September 2010 03:04 PM

I don't do gaming

Last time must have been mid '90's on Tekken. We have a Wii but that hasn't been used since the christmas we got it.

Trout 29 September 2010 03:10 PM

Final Fantasy VII
Final Fantasy X - amazing, amazing game - vast, endless, 150 hours minimum
