in car freeview reception problem with pics

already have this on another thread but thought id start a new one.

i have a reception problem with my freeview. i get good signal at my house, but when i move the car at all it goes straight to no signal and then i have to reset it everytime. i cant get signal anywhere else around town even though there is very good reception in my area. what type of aerial should i consider buying? or does anyone have any ideas on where to place the aerial for better reception? the aerial im using came with the freeview box and is shown in the pics.. thanks in advance for any help

Looks like you have a Kenwood setup? I have the Kenwood KVT-522DVD flip-up system with the KTC-D500E Digital Freeview add-on box. But I was advised to use powered aerials, and opted for some Alpine ones that are powered by the Freeview box @ 5V. Each aerial is mounted front and rear of the car (Daihatsu YRV). Before the Digital switch over used get intermittent picture and sound depneding on where I parked the car, but since has been much approved. Looking at the Aerial your using that won't cut it.

I'm using a cheap freeview box with my kenwood unit. So could you please point me in the direction of some good powered aerials, say on eBay? How would I know if the freeview box is able to power the aerials? Thanks

How would I know whether the freeview box is capable of boosting the signal with 5v? This is the box
I am using :

Not sure with that one you have bought, looks a cheap box indeed :) I bought a package off e-bay which consisted of the Kenwood DVD player with flip screen and the proper Kenwood freeview box which has 4 aerial connectors (Like sky ones). The Kenwood has a set-up menu which allows for 5v power to be switched on to the aerials. The aerials I have are twin Alpine ones with proper coax screw ins x 2. Basically a small thin box with one large and one small aerial mounted up front, and the same mounted on the rear.
These are the ones I bought;

Basically if the front one doesn't get a signal the freeview box will switch ot the rear one and vice versa.
