The Bob Rawle Experience Pt II
Well ,not wanting to hijack chtpcpo's thread from a few weeks ago:thumb::
https://www.scoobynet.com/scoobynet-...ight=bob+rawle I thought i would post up,how my day went with the great man :notworthy. After having my 1999 uk turbo mapped in february this year which had the following mods: VF28 Turbo Sti intercooler + pipework Heatwrapped decat + vortex K & N panel filter 3 point boost solenoid Samco Induction Hose Walbro 255 fuel pump Ecu tec remap The car made 317 bhp 316lb/ft and felt quite aggresive on boost:norty: http://i782.photobucket.com/albums/y...Powergraph.jpg I was really pleased with the results especially as this was from a car that had 135K on it albeit with full service history. So i did not know what to expect when i took my 2000 uk turbo to him on Tuesday ,this car had the following mods: VF28 Turbo Sti intercooler + pipework Heatwrapped decat + vortex afterburner K & N panel filter 3 point boost solenoid Samco Induction Hose Walbro 255 lph fuel pump ECU remapped off 99 car Dispite the mods coming off the previous car, when fitted to the later model ,the first thing bob discovered was it was running rich,a few minor adjustments and we were off. After an hour of runs, bob was quite pleased as the car was up on power and had slashed a whole 1.02 seconds off the previous acceleration runs:luxhello:,and the acceleration felt a lot smoother than the previous car. The car hits 1.3 bar boost and stays strong right to the limiter, the later car gained 7 bhp and 5lb/ft extra torque:D http://i782.photobucket.com/albums/y...owergraph2.jpg As for me ,well i am well chuffed and for anyone considering a remap i would strongly reccommmend bob:notworthy ,not just for his experience as a mapper, but as a really nice geezer who has more patience than any man i know, and takes the time to tell you what he is doing and what his objectives are. Also thanks to mark, whose car was featured on the original post and helped me post up the graphs:thumb:,but the real accolade that made my day was when bob turned around and said to me whilst we were doing the acceleration runs that i was one of the fastest people he had witnessed in all the time he had been mapping change up through the box with the speed that i was doing ,hitting optimum power before each shift  - he actually asked me 'had i been practicing' ,which i hadn't,and he was mega impressed:notworthy . A really enjoyable session and the car is 50% up on power it had(215 bhp) than when it left the factory 10 years ago. Also would like to say thanks to cannon fodder :thumb: for organising the group buy option. |
Awesome stuff mate, and faster than mine (boo!) although it was cooler ;) Took my wife out in mine for the first time since the remap, she was quite frightened!!! Glad you are happy with the results, Bob is a top man

Glad you are both happy with your results, 324bhp is a very good result and Bob does nothing short of transform your car. :notworthy
I'm going to see Bob on the 8th of October after a few select mods to my Spec C Milltek 3" exhaust system with a sports cat Uprated 1.2 bar wastegate actuator RCM induction kit with SPT heat shield 650cc flow matched injectors (not necessary but I had them anyway) 3 port boost solenoid I'm having an Ecutek Megarom remap with 2 proper switchable maps and I hope to see around 380/380 on the standard VF36, the biggest bonus will be the in gear boost is mapped to each gear to maximise power delivery. :norty: Bob is a genius and it'll be my third mapping session with him. ;) |

Hi mate is this map available for all scoobs equipped with ecu tec software:wonder:. Also 380 bhp & 380 lb/ft sounds mighty, what would you expect the turbo lag to be like pushing that sort of power ,and is that the limit of your vf36 |
