Which Polish/Wax

hi all,
just after your views and advice if possible on which polish you find best, which brings the best out in a shine and protection and also do any of them reduce those dam swirls or at least help hide them.
thanks

theres loads of good stuff out there,
i use meguiars i find there stuff to be pretty good but i know you can spend a fortune on this stuff...

DJ_Jon 21 September 2010 10:35 PM

Auto glym super resin polish will fill swirls, but depending on colour I'd go for the Jeffs werkstatt range.

Get the swirls removed by a reputable detailer.

The Myth 21 September 2010 10:36 PM

anybody used Mer Ultimate Polish,is it any good, looking on there website it states it has a very mild abrasive action, could this remove swirls?

prodriverules 21 September 2010 10:49 PM

Ive tried mers mate and wasn't impressed at all,i now use 3m rosa polish which is the best ive ever used by along way[not cheap though]

armzy 21 September 2010 10:55 PM

i use autogylm super resin polish, the auto shine and the gloss protecter lol

swrtno1 22 September 2010 04:01 AM

Take a look at the polished bliss web site, they have the very best of stuff and are always willing to answer any of ur questions!

lordharding 22 September 2010 05:46 AM

Super resin polish is prob best for swirls but get yourself a daz 6 polishing machine and some lube and do it yourself to make a proper job
Do a search on detailing world for tution on it
Or pay a detailer £250 aprox
Hence DIY route is cheaper and great fun for a few days

gazzawrx 22 September 2010 07:40 AM

i use autoglm super resin polish on my own cars as it's quick to apply and leaves a deep glossy shine when polished, but in the body shop i use the 3m fast cut range.

bigsinky 22 September 2010 08:11 AM

you could try the swissol products. i bought a "samurai" kit especially for jap cars. not cheap but gives outstanding results provided you are willing to put in the enormous amount of time and effort required.

Martin0711 22 September 2010 11:31 AM

use meguires scratch x and meguires last touch detailer as a lubricant to remove the fine swirls using a buffing machine.
then follow with meguires carnuba wax for luster and shine
then to protect all your hard work i always use Colinite double coat wax "probably the best you can buy" only around £25 and will protect and bead water for months on end.
you'll get good deals on sites such as
elite car care
monza car care

+1 (Even though they are now called Swissvax)

I've use Samurai for years now, But I'm now trying "Mirage" with a slightly higher %.

It's not cheap, and the application is quite in depth, but the results are fantastic

Meguires tech 2 liquid wax

i found beter than auto glym super resin as it removers swirls but unlike the polish its a wax so it layers and protects the paintwork. the more u do it the better it works.

for even better results first use the meguires smooth clay kit and spend a good day on it, it will be well worth it!!!!!

scott64 22 September 2010 04:45 PM

i used to use autoglym but i have changed to meguiars as i find it a better quality wax mate tbh, and as for that mer sh*t wouldnt use it again bought a bottle of it a couple of years ago and i ended up throwing it out,too hard to aply and way to hard to buff off

SRSport 22 September 2010 05:03 PM

Dont AG do sealants? Only recently have they done that HD wax.

I find that the Auto glym Extra gloss protection works well with Super resin polish.

If you have Swirls Meguiars Swirl-X.

If You have and it's a dark car Poorboys Black Hole Glaze

If you don't have Swirls HD Cleanser.

After any of these Autoglym HD WAX

Believe me this product is awesome:thumb:

what exhaust is that mate? dodo juice is great:thumb:

simpsons ! 22 September 2010 10:21 PM

It's a NUR SpecS.:thumb:

I have never had the pleasure of using Dodo juice I approached them about becoming a stockist 12 months ago but they said they had enough in my area.:(

So it's now Meguiars' Autoglym, Valet-Pro, and Poorboy's.

915 Is a good wax and I used it in my line of work for two years or more, You can over apply it, it sticks like the proverbial in the wrong conditions ie (warm and humid)

Autoglym HD is way better, Beads for up to six months, and you can get 33 applications (cars) out of a single pot, I have left it on overnight and up to 36 hours and it still comes off a treat. Trust me I know what i'm talking about here:)

know what you mean about it sticking, needs 2 passes at buffing it off to get rid of it all.
left mine when it was sunny, clouds came out but left it on to let it cure,

still the first decent wax i have bought, was using turtle wax before this

glosrob 24 September 2010 12:43 PM

clay with autoglym clay bar.. then srp the car... then dodo juice supernatural then meguiars speed detailer... job done proper...

klem 24 September 2010 08:12 PM

I can recommend the Poor Boys range.

The Polish and superswirl remover are better and easier to use than SRP and the Black Hole glaze brings darker colour cars up amazingly!

Finishing off with Ex-P sealant or Nattys wax really adds depth to the shine and offers decent protection... again, better and longer lasting than Autogylm extra gloss protection.
