Anyone using the power FC to control boost?

Anyone on here using the power FC to control boost?

If so is at any better than an external boost controller? I am using a Blitz DSBC at the moment but was wondering if I could get better boost control through the FC?

Cheers

you'd need to get the map sensor that go's with the pfc but from what ive heard it is very good mate

only on the 92~96 do you need to do that, or if you want to run more than around 1.55bar~1.6bar (you cannot set a boost target higher than 1.5bar but there are ways around running more than that).

the powerrfc is not too shabby at controlling the boost, there is only a single target and duty so you cannot alter per rpm if say you have a weak actuator or if you want to tail the boost off etc.. but for 90% of the cars this is not an issue.

As to better than your current boost controller - probably no different.. you can easily swap to it with a 3port boost solenoid and compare the two etc.

Thanks for the reply Simon,

Which 3port would you reccomend?

Fiestaboy has some prodrive 3ports forsale pm him on here

Oe works well and will plug straight in if 92~98

Perin, apexi, mac valve, they all work well tbh

OK, I have fitted the 3 port this afternoon and all I can acheive is 0.5bar. I have gone into the ETC menu on the PFC and turned the boost control on, and then back to the settings - boost but all values are zero? I can change them but as soon as I go out of the menu and back in again they reset to zero.

Anyone help?

You only turn the boost control on if you're using the PFC's bespoke 3bar MAP sensor whose wiring has the little white plug that plugs into the side of the PFC.

If you haven't got that PFC MAP sensor rigged up and plugged in then you need to make the PFC read the OEM MAP sensor again, by turning the boost control back off again on the Commander...

Thanks Joz,

I have done that and its still the same, the boost settings screen always reads zero on all fields and the turbo wont boost above 0.5 ..... aaaarrrrrrgggggg!!!!!

Bugger. :(

"SIMON!......" :D ;)

You are pressing "NEXT" after you make any changes, right?

has car been mapped yet btw??

Simon

peggy 25 September 2010 06:59 PM

Hi Simon, this screen is all zero's yes.

The car has been mapped on the old turbo but not the new one yet.

sounds like it may have been locked by whom ever mapped it on the laptop and you can therefore no cvhange the boost settings
