ScoobyJawa 16 September 2010 08:19 PM

Do ya want a buyer for the brochure? :D

chocolate_o_brian 16 September 2010 09:02 PM

Evening chaps... you knew I'd turn up after a sniff :D

I've got a book "Peugeot 205 - The Story of a Challenge" by Jean Todt which I've heard is pretty rare. Excellent read about the whole original idea, design process, the T-16 homoglation special edition etc. Very informative book indeed :thumb:

Dave Thornton 16 September 2010 09:02 PM

I think I still have that brochure too. The 205 GTI had a very big influence on my life in the late 80s/early 90s

scoobygreg 16 September 2010 09:04 PM

awesome car in its day, becoming quite collectable now

TonyBurns 16 September 2010 09:07 PM

Ah the french ferry driver putting the car onto the ferry at calais

If I could have afforded to keep replacing the tired bits I'd have had mine longer then 2 years to be honest.

Outhandled ANY Scoob I have owned. Most fun car ever to drive on a reasonable budget :notworthy

richgreenscooby1 16 September 2010 09:36 PM

Thats why I'm keeping mine :D 1990 on 77k miles, must be one of the lower ones around. Bought it off a guy on here back in 2004. Dropped to half what I paid for it, now its worth the same again :D

Loved my 1.9. Got it when I was 19..... happy day!

classic Subaru Si 22 September 2010 11:16 AM

Same here, 1.9 gti in white at the age of 19 - Form a queue ladies, haha!

Petem95 27 September 2010 10:37 PM

Cracking cars! Got my first 1.9 GTi at 18 and didn't roll it until I was 20 :D

Had 4 205 GTi's in total - so much fun I used to frequently just go out for a drive in those! Not driven anything since with the instant throttle response of a 1.9!

mr hat 29 September 2010 04:22 PM

prefered the williams myself. do like them though, nearly bought one recently, maybe one day.

type-ellis 06 October 2010 06:40 PM

Cracking cars, im gunna be looking to buy one in the next few weeks so if anyone wants to part with the ones they aint useing let me know, carnt spend a fortune on one, not expecting a minter but not a nail eaither

J4CKO 06 October 2010 09:08 PM

I had a B reg mk1 1.6, looked good but never felt all that quick, got a Mk1 1.6 GTI Golf and that was more like it, I think mine wasnt on par, nearly got a 1.9 but they were pricey, a mate with more money bought one and put it in a field on its roof, got the insurance money bought another and repeated the exercise on the same road !

172sport 06 October 2010 09:27 PM

I'm building my self a 205 mi16 trackcar as we speak

Dingdongler 06 October 2010 10:51 PM

I had a Sorrento green 1.6GTI first which had rare half leather and PAS. Later I bought a 1.9GTi in silver/grey.

Loved them to bits, felt really special at the time. My wife (then my girlfriend) still remarks how much she loved them as well

B reg would put it with the early 1.6 engine with 105bhp, revised around C/D plate to 115bhp which made it a bit more fruity! Also around the time they introduced the galvanised panels and hence why early ones rust worst!

type-ellis 07 October 2010 08:58 PM

hopefuly collecting one tommrow :D

Unfortunatly sold, a or so week earlier

urban 11 October 2010 11:55 AM

I had a 1.6 205 GTI in white and then a blue 1.9 GTI
Now it was a long time ago, but I remember my seats were a lot better than those things?

They look like something you'd fall of going round a corner

REVOLUTION 11 October 2010 01:06 PM

205's - we are all showing our ages now..........

Brilliant little cars and good to hear the likes of Dave Thornton still alive and well - he was the famous editor of Torque magazine!

I had a 1.6 D-reg in grey (D163 CHN) and then a J-reg Gutmann 1.9 in blue (B2 PUG)...wonder where they are now?

Still keep and eye out for a Griffe edition for sale and went to see a Lazer Green 1.9 one the other week for 600 quid - jees's it was in bad shape and well beyond repair!!

Will dig out my 205 collection of mags and brochures tonight to have a look back,
Got 1st ten years of Torque mag and tons of dealer brochure's - i even have in my collection an original 70 page dealer service/promotion brochure on the 205 T-16.
It has engine cut-outs and all sorts of amazing pictures - paid £100 for it ten years ago, should be worth a few bob now.

Dave, is Tony Munday still alive and well?
