Brake Pad Replacement Advice Needed on Standard WRX

Need some brake pad advice please.

Got a completely standard 2007 Hawkeye WRX which I am looking to replace the brake pads on as they are starting to feel a bit spongy and getting a bit of fade as well as the odd squeek now and again. I generally use the car for normal road driving with occasional fast road usage but no track use at all.

Should I stick with the standard Subaru OEM pads or go for an alternative? There is a lot of talk on here about the new EBC Bluestuff pads but will I see any real benefit for this type of driving/usage? What kind of price difference is there between the OEM pads and alternatives and what are the wear rates like? I also seem to get a lot of brake dust from the OEM pads as I seem to be forever cleaning the wheels - is this similar with the EBC or alternatives?

Thanks

HI
All pads will give off dust , the softer they are the more dust they give off , performance pads are harder so will give off less dust , there isn't a pad available that doesn't give off some dust , unfortunately !

The bluestuff pads are very good , but only if you are going to get the use out of them , these are good for hard road use and track days , if your only getting a bit of fade with your standard pads then they might not be for you , the bluestuff pads on there own are £141 a set , where as I could supply you our Grooved discs and kevlar pads for £99 or £10 extra for the black centres to stop them going rusty , the kevlar pads are the first stage up from standard , so would work exactly like a standard pad when off to the shops , works ect , but would take more heat when pressing on so you wouldn't get the fade like you currently do
I have all these on the shelf for next day delivery

Or if you need anymore info , please ring me on 01656 723060

Cheers Ian

Hi Scott,

Our Kevlar pads would fit the bill nicely, good bite from cold and improved fade resistance over OEM.

Available to buy online or call 01462 488244 for a chat and advice :thumb:

We have Bluestuff pads in stock, but wouldn't be worthwhile for your type of driving and you would lose cold bite.
