You seem to like it so much you have a furry erection :D

Nice car!
First thing first, get the engine undertray off and check the power steering rack to pump pipe!
If its leaking, replace it (any dirt in the oil can kill the pas pumps, plus the pipes are a common issue)
Also have a good check of the rear suspension springs as they also fail due to corrosion! :)

:thumb: Got mine about 6 weeks ago - love the SMG.

Have you had any kangarooing 1st to 2nd gear?

dnc

Edit to add: I know it's childish but changing down gear whilst on the gas is so addictive

Terminator X 12 September 2010 07:40 PM

Isn't SMG an option for the ladies ...

There is a software mod to help remedy this.
Doesn't totally irradicate it though, takes time to change your driving style to suit.

Yep, floor it or change up - depends on the situation.

:freak3: If you represent the average intelligence of a Scooby owner (which I'm sure you don't), I would not post here.

Do us a favour and stop talking nonsense please.

have you got any idea where he got the remap done?

Terminator X 13 September 2010 01:00 PM

Remap of a non turbo car can't give much extra can it :wonder:

If nothing else it lets you top the car at 180mph on the autobahns. ;)

rookymatt 13 September 2010 06:00 PM

E46 M3 remap gives about 15-20bhp and 25nm extra torque. (approx) :D

Matteeboy 13 September 2010 06:04 PM

180mph in a 1600++kgs car with around 350bhp and the aerodynamics of a house brick is a wee bit optimistic methinks.

rookymatt 13 September 2010 06:39 PM

175 is achievable.
I'm currently on the latest M-Power training session at Wokefield park (BMW GB Training HQ) and the m3 has been discussed in quite detail today!! :D

Matteeboy 13 September 2010 06:58 PM

New/current M3 - yes maybe (in fact highly likely). E46 M3 - very unlikely.

All 3 series (mine included) don't have great aerodynamics.

M Power training session sounds fun - can you ask them to stop selling badges to goons in old E36 318s and similar though?!

rookymatt 13 September 2010 07:41 PM

Apparently, the csl will hit 180 if derestricted, but remember it puts out 360bhp, so 17bhp up on standard, and it weighs 110kg less than standard too!!

We don't sell the badges, you have to have an M power chassis number to order anything!
I blame ebay, and pikeys stealing them, and plonkers fitting them to crappy bms,and the Labour party, and my nan...cos she's old! :D:D:D:D

Matteeboy 13 September 2010 07:48 PM

Matt - lol!

I can believe it (just about) in a CSL but not a standard E46 M3, even with a minor tune.

rookymatt 13 September 2010 07:51 PM

I bugged the hell out of the tutor today, so to stop me annoying him any further he is going to get me loads of info of limits of the current and recent m power models.
