What ECU is best?
i have a impreza 1994 WRX import with a Z4 ECU in it (no sure if standard, has been in the car since i brought it) and my friend has got hold of a ECU with a Polar performance chip in it but it says 3B on it. should i buy it?
ive read that the z4 is the best one for my car but no sure |
The Z4 out of the box gives the best performance for TD05 equiped vehicles.
Z4 - 1995/1996 WRX – 12.7PSI (0.9BAR) DROPPING TO 11.7PSI (0.8BAR) @ 6600RPM - FUEL CUT 15.65PSI (1.08BAR) - 260PS (256 BHP) – 7250RPM The 3B is from a wagon and therefore is mapped for TD04 3B ALL WRX WAGONS - 10.55PSI (0.7BAR) DROPPING TO 6.84PSI (0.5BAR) STARTS TO DROP @ 5000RPM – FUEL CUT 13.79PSI (0.95BAR) However, if the chip is fitted and the J1 resistor is cut, then the ECU runs the map on the chip regardless of the OE map. It is possible i think, for the chip to have been mapped for the TD04, so be aware. What are the markings on the chip? |
Bat, what about the extremely rare 4-plug "6K" STi v.2 one - 275PS (271bhp)? Whether OP can find one though is another matter........
|
....BUT...
OP if you intend to run the PP chip in it, the OEM map becomes overridden, so it don't matter which ECU you use..... Other than it must be one for a MY93-96 i.e. a yellow 4-plugger (obviously). |

:cuckoo: i know :lol1: Transfer the chip/board to a boggo W6 or equivalent, re-solder the J1 resistor in the 7K and flog it on... ;) |

You're "wasting" it. :lol1:
Transfer the chip/board to a boggo W6 or equivalent, re-solder the J1 resistor in the 7K and flog it on... ;) Just sold a Z4 with DIL socket fitted and a PP chip. Got a U8 up for sale at the mo but no DIL in it. Been toying with the idea of flogging my chip and just running the 7K. I got lucky really, it was all Scott had left when i did a part x with him, he did explain when we did the deal. It's got a jumper on it rather than the J1 so it wouldn't be a problem for me. Only worry/issue would be the increased redline, extra 500rpm iirc. |
Bloody hell, are they worth that much??
7K |
thanks for replys, i will just keep it as it is then

IMP-ECU-s2-V21 284C it is for a td05 and will give the following performance. boost level raised to 1.1 bar (16 psi) fuelling and timing adjusted to suit UK super unleaded fuels (97 RON) fuel cutoff level raised to 18psi speed limiter removed Which will give a slight performance boost over the z4 as it is designed to run on uk fuel ,where as the z4 will hit 260 bhp on jap 100 ron fuel, not on the normal 95 ron :nono:that the op uses:eek: |
Spot on info from midnight. To be reeeally anal, Scott T designed the map around Esso Supreme 97, with, allegedly. more than enough fuelling for the TD05H (or TD04 if that version of the chip), decat d/p + system, panel filter
I'd personally run the PP chip too - as above, it's 'safer' than the OEM Z4's map for the reasons cited. |

As stated by joz the polar performance chip overides the existing map so it does not matter what ecu the chip is fitted in. If the chip has the serial no :

Where does the OP mention 95 ron?? ;) There is no need to remind him of the consequences of his actions:nono: as there are enough threads if you hit the search bar about using lower octane fuel.My car was designed to run on 97 super unleaded, but i have always used 99,so running a 100 ron car on 95 can be costly as the jdm engine has a tendancy to pink on our lower octane fuel. This can cause the fuel/air mixture to explode within the engines cylinders, rather than burn smoothly, which in turn can lead to mechanical damage(melting of valves/pistons):freak3: |

The op doesn't - but i used the power of the force :norty:,and i know he does use 95 ron in his 94 wrx,as its cheaper:cuckoo:.
Thats ok then if your using the force :lol1: There is no need to remind him of the consequences of his actions:nono: as there are enough threads if you hit the search bar about using lower octane fuel.My car was designed to run on 97 super unleaded, but i have always used 99,so running a 100 ron car on 95 can be costly:freak3: |

ive used 95 ron fuel for like 2 years and it just slows the car.
ive done 1/4mile on v-power and got 130mph and on 95 it only goes to 100mph but dont see what its gonno do, as ive ran it for 2 years now |

Any idea what the serial posted by midnight is for? IMP-ECU-s2-V21 284C

Any idea what the serial posted by midnight is for? IMP-ECU-s2-V21 284C I know fcuk all about mapping/maps. But i would think, as long as the MAP/ECU can pull the timing far enough to prevent DET/knock, then all you will lose is power. However if it cannot, then you stand to lose a little more ;) If i put 95 in mine it goes into limp mode :) |
Danke! Ve are learning al ze time yar ;)

no worries the 284c is for a tdo5 as well, and from the info written on the chip is a newer revision of the 275c chip.

Slider I shall put vpower in and show you haha
|
I dont think you'll show me a 130 mph 1/4 mile run  as a p1 gets to 100mph from standstill in 12.27 secs  and covers a 1/4 mile in 13.49,and is a tad bit quicker than yours:rolleyes:
If your talking about general top speed then yes i would imagine it would do 130 mph,but so does my uk turbo in 4th:norty: |
