Car's only 5 months old Callipers faded to grotty green already. I think it had something to do with Alloy Wheel Cleaner, good for cleaning wheels - not good for callipers.

So remedy - one tin of hot black, one tin of hot white and two boring hours, but I think it was worth it :)

yoza,

High temperature gloss black and white paint (Not in the same pot!! :D ) From that place begining with 'H' painted on the car (with the wheel off :) ) Prep'd with wire brush on the end of a drill, wiped down with thinners and painted with 5mm brush. White painted with 2mm brush.

Steady hand required for the white bits. I did the front one in black then did the back one in black then went back to the front one to do the white, it was touch dry by then.

Don't have to paint the white on the rear's - it's a sticker.

you just paint the half of the caliper that shows?

and only one coat needed?

(i assume any high temp paint will do the job?)

Tiggs

ps- wheel off? really? ;)

yoza 04 April 2002 10:22 PM

No, I painted both halves of the calliper and gave them two coats.

Just didn't paint the bolts etc on the back.

And yes, I did take the wheels off, but did contemplate leaving them on

Are you going to the big one on sunday? (We're meeting in Warrington if you're interested?) :)

Cheers,

Can you get high-temperature Hammerite? That would avoid any future corrosion.

yoza 06 April 2002 01:38 AM

Dont know!

You can buy a caliper paintin kit from which is supposed to stop the rust. It's about £17 or so and at all good retailers now. It comes in 5 colours as well. I'm about to do min when the weather gets a litle better.
