Mikey - Only my opinion but The Scoob is a cheaper and more practical car than either the Honda or the Toyota, The Honda has 240BHP as Standard and the Scoob has 218 - 220, Not a great deal of difference but the scoob is more of a cult symbol than the other 2 and has more aftermarket parts that when applied make it look SH1T Hot IMHO. Like I say only my opinion.

MR2 - Bird's car
UK Scoob - Cool, not quite as hot as WRX, but a tad more practical to keep running over here.... S2000 - I have to say that these puppies look as cool as f**k! Not particularly practical, but fantastic looks and go like schtink! Will probably benefit from Honda reliability too. Mugen make parts for these puppies and Honda Dealerships are trying to bring them to the UK as official upgrade packs! Personally, I would have both. Keep my scoob and give the loved one the S2000! I had the very same problem. My Company car is due for replacement in September this year. I calculated last september that I would be better off opting out of the policy and getting another £400 in my pay per month. I then knew, I had to import a car, because I had a lot of time on my hands (1 year). This would give me 6 months to choose a car and 6 months to get it delivered. Perfect.. Well that was the theory.... However choosing the car I wanted was the hardest thing I have ever done. Both the MR2 and S2000 were high up on my list. along with : Honda RSX, Honda Integra R, BMW Z3 3.0, Toyota Celica 190, Saab 93 Turbo / Convertible. BMW 330, And just about every other nice car this side of 30K. But in the end I have decided to go for a Scoob. Why ?? Well heres my thinking. As you can probably see from my list, I was very indecisive if I wanted a cabrio or not. I did know that I wanted something very fast. The Cabrio's arent very pratical, other that the Saab or BMW 330, but these are very expensive,especially the BMW. However you can get a Saab for £21K import (saving 10K!!) So these were out the window. The S2000 was very nice, and I test drove this twice. Very fast indeed, however, very easy to loose all control !! Also I currently own a Vtec, and Yes is is a very very good engine, but it is a very stressfull drive, having to rev the nuts off it every day. My final decision, was ,made also as I didnt want to spend that amount of money just to go out and wrap it into a lamp post, because of it's uncontralable back end! As for the Integra / RSX or Celica, same price as the Scoob, but I am sure the scoob is more fun. However the MR2... Well what a fun little car. I enjoyed this the most (even more than the Scoob) and would have ordered it, had it not been for the impraticallness (is that a real word ??) of the thing. It is a bit slow, but the mid engine position is just great. So I am now thinking of buying one of thee for the missis. You can import for £15K. So you see for almost the same price of a BMW 330 cabrio, you can have both an ugly Scoob and A beautifull convertible too. (As long as you import) Fast yet ugly car + Beautifull cabrio which is slow. |

I have a MR2 @ present and I will be selling it for approx £15000 in a couple of months when the new WRX Special Edition arrives don't no whether you are interested ? my wife drives it, new in Sept last year silver, black seats 3,300 miles @ present, well looked after. Well, what I did was:-
Get the last of the old shape Stay with a UK car - there is no need whatsoever these days to have to settle for a grey import ... those days have gone Maybe its boring but dont molest it until the warranty runs out Just my opinions entirely - some people jump straight on people speaking thier mind on here - so, as I say, IMHO James [This message has been edited by JBr (edited 11 March 2001).] |
