What is AV3?
 

Dreaming through the Pistonheads classifieds (like you do....) I came across this ad, what 3 series is this? I've never heard of the name AV3? Is it like a specialist tuner? What sort of time would the 0 - 100 be if its got that kind of bhp/torque?

Autovogue tuned version by the looks of it, quick google search.

Just seems to be another aftermarket single marque tuner's version of a normal car.

Looks pretty sweet for an oil burner. Not sure on the wheels though :)

The body kits are okay (basically they import Hamann stuff) but 20" wheels on a 3 series is very very silly.

Must have started life as a 330d SE (they tend to use SEs as a base car) as the figures aren't right for a tuned 335d.

Its a manual, so a 330d mate... and the figures seem a little optomistic for a mapped 330d, but aren't wildly out IMO.

I agree that 20" wheels are mental though, the upgrade M-Sport 19s are a total nightmare on UK roads and can only imagine that with a 'budget' suspension upgrade and 20" wheels, its going to be even worse. :wonder:

I think arches need rolling too to fit them in? I know 3er owners that have even had rubbing issues with non OEM 19s.

A lot of big wheeled (19s) 3er owners actually avoid certain bumpy routes because of the fear of cracking a wheel. Not handy. My "tough as old boots" 17s may not be in vogue but I never worry about them breaking. Pretty bomb proof.

20s would be a complete PITA and look cack on a 3er too.

Nor me. I chose the smallest that could fit over my rather large front disks.
No cracking issues, ride is smooth, much more tyre choice (and cheaper) and less rolling weight than big "performance" wheels.

Almost no race cars have massive wheels so why does every Jag, most BMs and Audis, etc?

19s/20s on 30ish profile tyres are a complete joke on public roads.
