Has anyone fitted one of these to a Turbo or a N/A Scoob?

It sits between your air filter and inlet and basically drives the air in a lot,lot harder. Give this ago:

I've checked the Turbo zet out but it doesn't really say how you can order one and I don't fancy ringing Seoul either - no response on e-mail:(

If you take a look at this thread, there is some rough calculations of air flow into a 2.0 litre engine (no turbo) of approx 200 CFM.
Any fans etc which are used need to flow more than this to generate any type of boost. Little "PC" fans aren't going to supply that.... You could use something like these Jabsco blowers which you can see are much more serious looking items.... ;) Thanks Gavin |
These Jabsco blowers look quite mean! Not being very technically minded, how would you get them to come on at a certain rev range say, to prevent drain on your battery etc.??

thanks for the info mate, it's certainly a cheaper option than the ones previously discussed. Theoritically, it could be mounted before or after the filter depending on the length of ducting etc?? I think I could get some quite gains if mounted correctly. I've tried the ram effect with the vented bonnet which gave me 141bhp with a pipercross induction kit on BUT have since changed to a BMC CDA(carbon) filter which takes air from the front wing it's gone upto 150bhp but the ducting is obviously three times longer:rolleyes:hence a blower would increase the ram-air in theory:confused: The problem would be getting ducting which is 100mm!! The BMC is too big to fit under the vent now, so it sits in the wing where the old air box was. Many thanks for your help - don't know if you don't try eh!! Paul:):D |

I know that you can get a Samco silicon hose straight reducer which goes from 102mm down to 76mm. Cost is probably circa £30 if it helps. Enjoy your tinkering! ;) Thanks Gavin |

I don't know if this will work particularly well - bear in mind that a proper turbo is run from "waste" exhaust gas rather than electrical current. The additional load on the alternator could cancel out the gain ? As the blowers are not expensive (the cheapest 4" rated at 240CFM is £19+VAT Here) , it could be worth a try - and you certainly have more chance of success than using little PC-type fans... ;) Bear in mind that the blower unit is not small so you would need room to fit it! To switch it on and off, you could use a microswitch under the accelerator pedal so it only activates if you put your foot down - something like this? Microswitch at Maplin along with a 40A relay. Another idea is to fit a turbo bonnet and use the scoop as an air ram ? I don't know anyone who has done it though... Thanks Gavin [Edited by GavinP - 4/9/2002 1:19:44 PM] |
