RIP Shoya Tomizawa, killed in Moto2 today
 

Horrific accident. Dropped then hit by 2 bikes flat out. Scott Redding (Brit) was lucky to survive.

Just learned that Lenz, a promising 13 yr old was killed in a similar manner last week at Indi. RIP Lenz too

Yeah looks that way, prob for the best, but for the wrong reasons.

I've just seen some "in memory" vid which appears to be the crash, weird thing to have as an in memory piece. Anyway, absolutely horrific and can only hope that it was instant and by virtue of that, painless.

Unfortunately he died in hospital, and was initially moving after the crash from what i heard from the pundits at the moto gp anyway:(

Thats horrific, i don't follow bike racing myself but to see anything like that is really sickening when someone is just trying to follow their dream. RIP

Yes, RIP Shoya. I am a biker and ride as often as I can. I also follow the sport. Shoya was a star in the making. Rossi was very upset at the press conference, after the GP race.

I was at the TT this year and was waiting when we learned that Guy Martin crashed. It was awful. We all thought he'd died. Thankfully he didn't. Others though did and Paul Dobbs' wife (he died the day before at the exact same place that Guy Martin crashed) released a very moving statement about how he died doing what he loved. These guys know the risk and race anyway.

Doesn't take away from the incredible sadness that we all feel when tragic events like this happen.

Tragic loss, as is last weeks, and to be honest glad the youtube clips are being pulled as there is no need to go looking at it. The guys dead, why would anyone want to see it for themselves :confused:

i missed the race. how did the accident happen. i saw randy de puniet come off and two other bikes hit his bike. that was bad, this must have been horrific.

Shoya appeared to lose it coming out of a right hander. He was going at full throttle. Don't know why he did but was thrown off the bike and de Angelis and Redding were directly behind him and could not avoid hitting him. Redding ended up with injuries too. Don't know if de Angelis was injured or not.

What was shocking was that the race was not red flagged. Both Redding and Shoya were 'manhandled' (for want of a better phrase) by the race marshalls, with them even dropping Shoya as they rushed to get them off the track. It seems, sadly, as if it was more important to the officials to keep the race going than getting proper help for the injured riders. I have, along with another of other riders, emailed Dorna to express my disgust (not I suppose that it will do anything other than clog their email) at how they did things.

I am also pleased that the stuff on you tube showing the death is being pulled. Having seen it happen, I don't want to see it again. Give Shoya the respect he deserves and not have every Tom, Dick and Harry poring over the footage.

Tomizawa exited one of the flat out 140mph+ kinks. Alex De Angelis and Scott Redding were right in his wheel tracks.

He came out a bit wide and his went right up the kerbing (quite normal at this corner but he went a few inches to far)

It spun round on him, and first De Angelis and then Redding hit him square on.

what's shocking is no red flag immediately. He was obviously bad and the incident was right at the front of the field. With the field still going round it put pressure on the marshalls to attend and remove him before they came round again. While running with him across the gravel trapped 2 of them dropped the stretcher:(

I'm sure it did not contribute to his death but nontheless it was a terrible bit of race management / marshalling.

I did not see what happened clearly first time, so i rewound the sky+.When i saw it properly i felt ill and could not watch it again.

VERY talented rider with a big future ahead of hm and apparently very popular in the paddock. Those who saw him win the first round of Moto2 earlier this year in stunning fashion will agree.

watched the race in between doing stuff around house.. glad i totally missed this. RIP lad
