Cambelt Change due.

I have a STI V5 MY99 and I brought her with about 35k on. One of the first things i did was to have the cambelt changed for peace of mind.

I didn't have the tensioner replaced though. Nearly three years later my garage have said it will need replacing very soon.

I've reached the 45k interval so now, where can I get the cambelt and tensioner from at a good price. And what else will I need to do aswell. Like the idle things. I'm going to have my alternator belt replaced to.

Cheers

I would be interested in the oil pump. But I would have to drop all the oil again lol. But then again its betta than buying a new engine lol.

Will have a look. Regarding oil pump does it require engine removal?

with regards to the oil pump, you dont have to do an oil change or anything.. you'll only lose a cupful of oil at the most.

dont think its an engine out job either..

this is what ive heard
cant confirm tho

Correct, The oil pump is immediately behind the cam belt gear on the end of the crankshaft. There is almost no oil spillage when changing the pump. It just needs priming carefully when being fitted or you'll do more harm than good.

Can be done in situ.

Given the possibility that the oil pump backplate has come loose,[ they all do in time ] then it is almost a no brainer to fit a modded oil pump when doing a cam belt change, whether it is the first cam belt or any other time.
Once done just forget about it.

We have all parts and pumps in stock.

Ok I think I'll need my water pump replacing to from what I have been told. Going to be a costly job me thinks. But I have just found out that I have had my tensioner replaced when I last had my cambelt done.

All I need to know is does this matter, do I still need to replace it again.?

Water pumps on Subarus are not prone to failure and seem to last forever. We probably change 3 a year. If it ain't broke...............
