A new Rolex Daytona at list price

Just curious as I know there are lots of watch enthusiasts on here. A very good friend of mine has a bought a steel daytona with black face for the list price which I think was circa £6.5k.
Only had to wait three months. He did a big favour for somebody who works for a large dept store.

I was just curious is it difficult to get these watches brand new at list within such a short time?

Thanks

daytona is £3.5K for stainless mate with a 6 year waiting list maybe more. he has got his watch sooner because he has paid double the list price.

No mate, he would never pay double the price for anything, he is too tight:lol1:

It must be one of the different variants that costs more? Maybe that's why its easier to come by?

could be. intrinsic value goes up with precious metals and precious stones. limited edition as you say also attracts a premium.

List price last year when I got mine was £6170, he's done well to get one in three months from an AD.

Rolex take the piss with prices on their stainless steel models

The current price for a 116520 is £6,310 (January catalogue / price list). A Datejust costs over £3,500, let alone a Daytona.

I thought this might have been a thread resurrection at first, list price probably was £3500 when some people went on the waiting list. Still a beautiful and iconic watch, if you're into that sort of thing ;)

what he said :)

paid just over £2500 for mine back in 1994 (Zenith movement :) lol) ... and went on a 2 year waiting list. Most waiting lists are now clsed at most Rolex dealers now.

That makes more sense, he said he paid six and a bit. He's a surgeon who operated on a grateful patient who must be in the trade.

I just wanted to know whether it was actually still difficult to get a SS Daytona so quickly or not. Just in case I win the lotto and decide to buy one:lol1:

yep still like hens teeth to get hold of.

back last year whilst we were in Vegas went into the Rolex dealer at the Manderlay Bay hotel, the woman there said the only watch they find hard to get hold of (cus of the long waiting list) was the ss Daytona. They had every other daytona you could think of too.
