Plastic surgery

hi all,

A mate of mine who broke his nose at work with an unfortunate incident with a scaffold pole, has been to the hospital today to see a surgeon and advised he will need plastic surgery to correct the damage.

Any way he's been told that with it been a facial alteration as such that photo's before and after have to be taken for goverment purposes? I find that a lilttle un nerving as why would they need to know what he looks like?, and do they actually no what we all look like anyway ? Big brother is watching you :(

most private places will take before and after photos of the effected area, and you have to pay for that, being free on the nhs it wouldn't bother me, at the end of the day it is just that, free!!

They probably want to check that he wasn't already looking like he'd been hit in the face with a shovel before the scaffold pole incident, most likely to see if it's purely cosmetic or actually required. Varies depending on your local PCT's guidlines etc.

Plus (and more likely) it's good to have a photo that can guide them as to what he should be looking like after surgery, a photo should be able to give them a vague idea of the bone structure before the smash up, afaik.

Nothing to do with the government as far as I know (99.9% sure on that)

1) Its for medico legal reasons its to prove what rubbish the surgeon started with in the first place in case somebody complains about the cosmetic result later (LOL)

2) The surgeon pins it up on the operating theatre wall whilst operating as a reminder because once under anaesthetic and lying down with tubes coming out of you its not quite the same appearance. Especially true for eyes, boobs etc

Now - I bet you your dinner has never been late again after you chastised her ;)

I would not object to it being done for medical reasons, but I am surprised that they say it is for government requirements.
