Possible to find out previous residence of your house?

We, or rather my wife, has an ongoing "issue" with one of the rooms in our house.

Is it possible to discover who previously lived in our house?

dpb 24 August 2010 02:55 PM

Well we still get mail for the previous resident ,occasionally , although it goes in the bin nowadays , 3 years ago ???

Midlife...... 24 August 2010 03:01 PM

So you heard moaning, groaning and thumping from a room when you got back from work early and your wife convinced you it must be a ghost?:Suspiciou:Suspiciou

The previous residence of a house would be the same place - unless someone moved the house..:D

Census, electoral rolls, local library.

I have a subscription with Ancestry.co.uk, and may be able to help with the census.

Deeds may have some history too.

oldsplice 24 August 2010 06:03 PM

Forgot to say the only census records available will be from 1841 to 1911.

Dedrater 24 August 2010 06:27 PM

If the house has been sold, you must know you have no come back over previous residents, assuming all correct procedures were followed.

Come back over what? Edd hasn't explained what the issue is:confused:

Dedrater 24 August 2010 07:15 PM

What ever the ongoing "issue" is. I read it as dispute or something to be settled.

Midlife...... 24 August 2010 07:31 PM

surely the "comeback" will be with the surveyor ?

Shaun

The house is an ex-MOD house built in the 60s I think. Some MOD houses are tarted up and flogged in bulk so we never met who lived here before us. We've been here for about 9 years.

The issue is kind of personal.

Oh come on Edd! This is the most interesting thread I've read for ages!

What has she found in the room

1) A ghost?

2) Someone's dirty underpants?

3) Some birds old red rag?

4) A porn collection of chicks with d1cks (that you insist isn't yours)?

Do tell:)

dpb 24 August 2010 09:20 PM

5 ) hidden cash ?

Dingdongler 24 August 2010 09:33 PM

6) 10 kgs of Colombian marching powder?

I doubt that'd hold much water, unless they were the Ghostbusters.
