hesitance

hi my 93 wrx has become hesitant, like its got old coil packs or sumat, when u rev it theres nearly a half second delay from hitting the pedal until the engine roars. ive had the coild packs out and theres no cracks or hairline cracks.

its got new pfr7bs in last month but it started doing it b4 the service
and now the rev limit seems to be coming down on what it used to be?

any ideas on anything to check on guys?

secondly ive been offered a classic 95 wrx sti 555 for 800 quid with headgasket gone, is it hard job doing gaskets on both banks, only ever done straight 4 pots b4

hope to hear some replys, many thanks dave

Not sure about your hesitation.

About the head gaskets, I changed mine with the engine in the car. The passenger's side was easiest. The driver's side was more awkward because of the up-pipe and turbo. Just take care with organising parts when you take them off so they go back in exactly the same place (i.e. cam followers etc) and don't try to rush the job.

Ellesmere Port, and my mum still lives in Penketh.

Wish I had the time to be able to do the job for you, but more than willing to give advise if you need it. I believe it's easier with the engine out but when I did it I wasn't sure about where all the pipes & hoses went so chose the safe option to avoid having to remove them (or should I say put them back).
Mine would be running really well but for a different issue of it running lean at > 5200 rpm (see my other thread). Once that is sorted it will be a bit quick.

If you goin to do the head gaskets mate, take the engine out, theres not a lot involved in removing the eng, just make sure you mark all the hoses, use small coloured cable ties, available from most computer shops.
