Dan

regrinds are half the price of new crank and your's is rear thrust type engine mate, what happened to yours spun a bearing mate?

Ely1482 09 August 2010 09:21 PM

yeah on number 2 dont think its too bad low imo

assuming its the original engine and hasn't been swapped at some point, then it will be a rear thrust bearing crank, as for grinding its a big:nono::nono::nono: do a search on here for crank regrinds and see what it brings up, especially when you can get one for this price, (please make sure its right if you order the one in the link)

A regrind is half that and as stated by Harvey, with success if done by the right people who have experience with them.

does Harvey use reground cranks?? i think he used one on his own car, but weather he uses them on paying customers builds i don't know, but what i do know is if was rebuilding my own engine i would not use a reground crank there is just to much to go wrong, yeah a reground crank is half the price, add that to the price of a new crank when your "regrind" ****s up the cost increases significantly especially when a new crank is so cheap.

Ely1482 09 August 2010 09:54 PM

sorry mate but 400 is not cheap to me plus all other parts just looking at both rebuild long motor potions at mo thanks again

tell me what a budget build is? when you have got all the labour involved to remove strip rebuild and refit the engine, and already spending $£1.5k+a extra £200 plus makes sense to spend when you got the engine apart after all its not like a old ford or any other in line engine where you can drop the crank with the engine in situ.
