problem accessing https sites?
 

I am having a problem at work with our internet connection when trying to connect to https sites.

I am wondering if the router could be causing the problem? Sometimes if i turn off the router for a couple of minutes and turn it on everything works fine but it will slowly get worse. Its a linksys (wag200 i think) with a linksys 16 port switch plugged in to it (something like st 224)

If i run a speedtest we get between 5 and 7mb with 0.38 upstream and the ping is normally around 50ms, all other websites with out https seem to be fine but anything with https constantly times out or takes ages to load.

Help!

Do you get the same problem in Internet Explorer and Firefox?

Have you checked for any firmware updates for the router?

are you using a proxy server?

yes same problem in internet explorer and firefox and google chrome etc All PC's connected to network etc

I have reset the rooter to factory and put it just the user name and password to clear out any odd settings but with no luck, I am not using a proxy but it feels as if I am. If i access the ssame https sites over HSDPA network connection all works fine so I know there is definetly nothing wrong with the sites, it just seems there is bottleneck being caused somewhere.....

ask around try to borrow another router (simple thing first when faulting)

use telnet to test the underlying connection

it will rule out any browser issues
