ELECTRIC AERIAL SWITCH...???

I have a MY99 STi 5 and it obviously has the electric aerial on the passenger side rear wing.

Now, did cars with these aerials have an OEM switch for it in the lower dash panel, at all? If so, mine's missing - I just have a dodgy aftermarket toggle switch, installed by a previous owner. :(

Or would the aerial originally have been hooked up to the head unit i.e. a 12V switching output, when powered up (hence no need for an OEM dash switch)? :wonder:

Basically, I need an OEM electric aerial switch (if one actually exists?!)... Or are there any other marques whose switch could fit nicely into the MY99's lower dash panel switch recess...?

What about the Skyline R33 one - does anyone know the dimensions of that switch?:-

Any advice/help/ideas, much appreciated...

My money's on the OEM setup being switched from head-unit signal, as that's by far the more common system on cars that have electric aerials. It should be easy enough to reverse your previous owner's handiwork, otherwise email the Ebay seller and ask if he can measure the R33 switch for you.

I agree, normally a Blue with white stripe if you look at the cars loom.

- Yes, emailed that chap (and Sumopower!) - awaiting replies. ;)

- And yes, you're right about the the 12V acc wire being blue/white - I had that on my previous car's Sony Xplod HU (I employed the wire for an underseat sub). I just haven't got behind the OEM Carrozzeria HU yet. ;)

BTW, what's the procedure to get the double-DIN HU unit out of the MY99/00 dash (never done it before). :(
