From reading various posts on here, there seems to be a general push by some dealers that any none dealer or official Prodrive mod will terminate your entire warranty.

I guess it depends on your relationship with your dealer at the end of the day.

Went to my dealers yesterday and asked them what will happen with my warranty if I upgrade my brakes. They told me straight away that nothing will be covered on the car, if the brakes are upgraded. Can they do this???

From what Ive seen on here your warranty is only affected on the parts you upgrade/replace. Perhaps this dealer is trying to point you towards a subaru installed brake upgrade which would keep your warranty enitirely intact. I would suggest ringing another dealer and checking then get back to your local dealer and ask them why others can do it?

Agree with Chis, down to your dealer, they do seem to be going through a change in policy at the mo

Oh goodie, looks like I'm correct for a change :)

As a side note, I've had my brakes done by TSL. Group N discs, DS2500 pads, braided hoses and Silkolene fluid. About a week after TSL did their stuff, I had my car in for a 45k service and the dealer didn't mention a thing.

It does seem daft that changing discs or pads would be used as a reason for not fixing a problem with your engine, but I guess IM can set whatever rules they like here.

One benefit should be more sales of the Prodrive bits, although an interesting angle comes up here.

AFAIK, "Prodrive" pads from your dealer are standard DS2000s. Why should it make any difference to a warranty if you buy the very same pads elsewhere for a better price?

Back to IM setting the rules I guess.

Chris.
