Which batterys

Hey all,

few months back i was having a problem with my scooby (classic my95), the problem was that it would not start every now and that. The problem was so intermittant. It would not start, i would leave it 5mins then it would start again then it maybe fine for a few weeks then do it again, or it may do it again the following day.

On one occasion it would not start at work so i tried jumping it off one of the works cars, and it started straight away. I figured it was either battery or the old alarm that was on it. I got a new cat one alarm fitted and the problem didnt happen for about 2 months. Low and behold it happened again at work, so i jumped it off from one of the works cars and it fired up straight away.

So i am guessing it is the battery, the strange thing is i got the battery checked when the problem started and they said while the battery was slightly low it should be ok.

I am going to change the battery and see how i get on.

My question is, what battery are people using? i do know a few are using halfords, is it worth getting a odyssey battery or any other make i may not know about??

Next question where is best to buy from?

Thanks guys

I have a Varley Racing 25 on mine which weighs 6.5kg! However, that may not be practical for you. Give Alyn @ AS Performance a call on 0191 410 3770 and he should be able to sort you out.

When choosing a battery is there anything i should be looking for?

it may sound daft but from my experience vauxhalls genuine batterys are very good, and good when left for long periods without starts.

The later classics were fitted with Varta batteries as std fitment,My 99 uk turbo had one on, and my currenty car has one fitted .I also have the receipt for the battery amongst the paperwork i received when i bought the car March 2006,and still going strong.
